Did I just spy early SASers coming through Salida with a gooseneck full of Land Cruisers (tan 60 series, grey 40) or was that just wishful thinking on my part? 😍
We’ll have two gooseneck and 3 45’s but that’s a week. In Salida Fri/Sat

About 3% de-rate per 1,000 ft ASL. 30%+ at the tops of the passes. Quite a bit on already slow rigs. Thats the factor due to air density alone, and assumes your fuel metering remains correct. If running a carb your fuel metering likely isn't tracking perfectly with altitude and the losses will be even higher. 45 hp for a 22R may not be that far from the truth..

90hp new

Deduct 10 for being 40 years old
Deduct 22 for driveline loss
Add back 1.5 for having a sniper
Then deduct for for altitude.
I'd say 45 is a reasonably conservative guess.

How are you guys even making up the mountain?

Monarch is so long. Tranny on the Ford got to 255 just before the top. That was two years ago.
I hope you changed the fluid after that?

Dialing in gear. I shuttle expensive gear and tools between the 80 and the 74.

Man, I've been in the shop all day today taking care of the 60 and getting the SAS trailer ready to load. This time next week I'll be in Northern NM enjoying some much needed cooler temps. Ready to hang out with you bunch of Knucklheads. Hard to believe 10 months of planning is finally here.

These pictures of you all getting ready are making me a bit nervous as mine is still at the upholstery shop for the top. I am glad that I took Catherine’s (@Mesa Woman) advice earlier this year and did a few shakedown runs while I could.

I am hoping to get it back on Sunday as I am leaving on Tuesday. I’ll send pictures along the way. It will be the first time in 40 years that I will be pulling our 50s camper back to the cabin and I am eager to see how the Cruiser does.

Safe travels out there! I am looking forward to meeting everyone in a week!!

Got back from my stupid work trip yesterday morning and dove in. The boy helped me get the RTT on and then my wife and I went about securing, cleaning and replacing the rain fly.
This thing is huge on there. I was able to store the spare underneath just rear of the tongue as that is a lot of weight up high. May get some helper springs too.

Cruiser wise I’ll change the oil today and probably see if I can squeeze any more performance out of the brakes as this trailer and the load in the cab will likely grow to Sisyphusian proportions. Small stuff.

My family is coming with this year and I am very excited, wife Heidi, son Abel (13), daughter Ren (9) and pooch August (rad).

Hopefully there will be some other kids in tow?

Love that trailer

Thanks, I like it too. Fun sized and economical.
I will make a point to come by introduce myself and eyeball it. Love seeing what other ideas others have

Murnin’

It turns out I will be staying in Morrison for almost a week following SAS at a friend’s place. Figured I’d ask here about any good day wheeling trips with bonus points for lakes or water.

TIA
Ian, might be able to join you for something. Will be in Boulder for a bit after SAS. And we could check the Red Rocks schedule…
