What i have in mind is a stretched Aqualu FJ45 cab, on a Roadster Shop chassis, with a flatbed.

Not sure on powertrain. Gearing is more important than HP for what I want it to do.

Basically Toyota look, without dicking up classic car parts.

Buy a $10k pickup/4runner that's already fully built and used and learn to drive first. California/Nevada FB MP is chock full of them.

Awesome, I really wanna do Black Bear.
Don’t know that I will, I’ll see how we do…

One of my biggest regrets in life is not skiing The Plunge before they bulldozed it. I was just a kid, and my dad wasn’t going to do it, and I chickened out multiple years.
I try not to make those kind of mistakes. But I also know this is serious business.

That rig went through an identity crisis, thinking it was a Buggy when it was a full bodied rig.
Ridden hard and put away wet 😳
A man/woman has to know his/ her own limitations, and those of the rig they drive.
A good set of armor and lockers will get you through any of the Sierra trails with some skillful driving.
I think that’s about the most this group wants to do.
If you want to do the hardest trails in Johnson Valley AKA The Hammers skip full bodied rigs a get a tube frame Buggy.
A decent one will cost you 40 to 50K and the sky is the limit 😎
@EWheeler had his at Sand Hollow on our last trip there and it was a blast to watch him just walk right up stuff I couldn’t touch in my 80. 😎

I will be leading an early Black Bear run on Tuesday. Low key and no pressure.

No need for alarm. Black Bear pass is one way and it is pretty well marked on the Telluride side not to enter past the point where the road becomes a single lane. The local club runs it backwards once a year and the trail is closed from the top while they do this.

I don’t have any ducks to keep in line, either, so I also don’t have any desire to drive up Black Bear in reverse. 🐤

I’m in as long as we don’t meet *eeps going backwards. And I survive the first day. Baptism by fire has always been my style.

I like the plan to see how day one goes on Poughkeepsie Gulch. Easy going

another trail opened yesterday Poughkeepsie!

FB post from San Juan Mountain Adventures did it yesterday in the snow. Link will not open when I post up.???
This must be the link that you were trying to share?

I have no idea who this group is…

UPDATE: it says that the post can’t display, but click on it anyway. It took me to the page. I can’t figure out how to just post a link.
