My goal is to remember to pick up some gmrs radios so I don’t have to do the ham conversion every time we switch frequencies.

This has been a great radio. Have installed several now. Truly a plug and play set-up. Antenna is tuned and channels are preset. Amazon usually has great deals on them as well.

I think what you really mean is you’d like all of us to stop handing you our handhelds to program for us because you do it so quickly without having to look anytime up! 😂

There is only one channel to worry about with the tin can setup. Going around switchbacks might be interesting.

You all are making me a bit jealous (and quite nervous) talking about radios. Ha. That day seems so far away from my current progress, but I still am fairly optimistic that I will be done in time.

After reviewing my checklist this weekend I feel like I am here…

Update: at least the string that @mesa man suggested is already installed! Look closely at the right kick panel.

This year is clicking by fast and August will be here before we know it.
The directors of SAS would like to thank you for your ongoing support and encourage you to reach out to our amazing sponsors for any needs you may have. These are the businesses that support our hobby / lifestyle so please support them as well.
There have been many frequently asked questions through the years and one that seems to always come up is what trail comms do we use? I'm happy to announce this year's communications will be simple and extremely low cost.
Hope you all can make the switch.

I feel the exact same way. Can I ever get it done?!?

Yes, and probably not until the night before we leave!
Just plan a trip before SAS that is close to home so you can do a shakedown run before SAS! It would suck to have to be stuck at camp because of an issue you could have discovered before hand.
Just sayn’.
We are planning a shakedown camp trip for Memorial Day in our new to us 80, Big Betty, after a few projects we have for her! Replacing radius arms and front bumper and building a storage/sleep system inside and new tires going on!
Make your adventures fun and productive!
Happy building and Happy Adventurous Trials!

This is solid advice and I will be sure to do this. Yesterday I hit 600 miles on the odometer since the rebuild while I was on my way to the upholstery shop. I have worked out a few kinks during the past year though they have all been on the pavement and in 2x4. I am also planning to take it on a few camping trips locally to shake things down, I may even venture out to the Holy Cross trail for one of those.

What tires did you choose ?

We went with the mud hogs. Can’t beat the price! Hopefully they give us 1,000s of miles of fun worry free adventures rolling on dirt and pavement!
Surprised Gabe didn't insist on these:
