Opposite here this week: almost 90 earlier and then snow all day yesterday. The older I get the more I hate how springtime weather bounces all over the place. I put in my time for another winter, let’s go ahead and just warm up now!
Pretty soon you’ll start yelling at the lawn

Everything melted yesterday afternoon, then this morning was a different scene.

This is the camera on the back of our cabin looking towards Table Mountain above North Clear Creek Falls. The other camera got knocked out in January.
Ah, that’s why the internet didn’t know what I was talking about.

That is about what it looked like a few weeks ago when I was towing my 80 to Moab. I pulled off around Loveland/Evergreen area and waited it out for 4 hrs. No way I was going to be that "city slicker" from back East who jack knifed and blocked I70 for the night.

Us Coloradans thank you for that !

This is one of my fears as well. 😆

I can deal with snow. Especially mountain snow. Snow isn't a problem.
Hills though....
I've lived on the prairie my entire. I just know I'd Charlie Foxtrot something.

Plus the fines are horrific

Anyone who has driven I70 over the Rockies knows how steep it is. I figured I had another 20 miles of up.....Once cdot said it was clear and the web cameras showed clear, we headed back out around 3 am. It was not bad till we came out of the tunnel, then I had a moment as the whole road was white and now I was going downhill. Me and a few others limped at 20-25 mph down the mountain with flashers on. It was still snowing in Vail, where I topped off.

Lived at Electra Lake for 3 months (between Durango and Silverton), Health care traveller stored all heavies in a Boat I was Towing. Day I had to leave, snowing like Crazy going over Red Mountain Pass/ Ouray no El brakes on Trailer. That was scary as hell, heading to OH. Traffic was backed behind me as I'm going 10-15 MPH, maybe less. A memorable/diaper moment.

It sounds like you did it right. I’ve come out of that tunnel from both sides at different times where one side was summer and the other side was winter conditions. I worked for the local Cat dealer when I was younger and we often had to take Loveland Pass with oversized excavators and haul trucks, etc. 10 mph was speeding and I remember it taking over an hour to make the 20 mile trek around. I am sure that it is no surprise that my favorite place to go was between Ouray and Silverton, or above Ouray to the Camp Bird Mine.

I am looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the group in August. I am working long days over the weekend to get my Cruiser ready. There is still a lot to do but I think that I’ll be ready. I might sleep for a month after this.

We will all take a vacation and sleep for a month after SAS! Ha! We always do! 🙌🏼

I ripped out the back carpet, the third row set brackets, rear seat belts (anyone need them) out of my 80 getting it ready to have a sleep platform built. Oh and replaced the door sensor button, stupid connector took me WAY TOO long to disconnect until I grabbed a dental pick and disconnected right away! Ugh… that was stupid frustrating!

New tires on Monday! That makes me super happy!

There was this metal bracket bolted down in the back, not sure what previous owner used it for but out it came after ripping it from the rusted carpet. Floor under carpet is okay, I was concerned it would have rusted through.

Stupid connector…. Dental picks need to be in my tool kit from now on! The other picks we had were too big/thick.

We’ve got this!! As long as I make it to the tire shop with out a blow out, my old tires are dry rotten and have been abused. Had a blow out in the rear a few weeks ago so 🤞🏼 I make it the 24 miles to the shop!

Hoping for a shake down run out towards Angel Fire, NM for Memorial Day Weekend with some others SASers, you k ow who you are… LET DO THIS! And have some fun!

Happy Trails!

It’s looking good! I can’t wait to see it when you are done.

I am also hoping to do a shake down run in May if it is back together before I drop it off at the upholstery and speed shops. I will be pulling out the cage in early May to finish weld and paint. It will be in the shop for the month of June getting the interior redone, the soft top made, and a few odds and ends (exhaust, A/C charge, etc.). I’m hoping that I’ll have July to work out any loose ends, and that really depends on how long both shops will have it.

Was working on the brakes for our friend Galen’s HJ61. Almost there but the drum cylinders are leaking so pausing that while parts make their way.

While I had the tools out I decided to adjust the rears on Paul. Big diff. She needed it. Stops with alacrity now. Amazing how used to subpar brakes we can get.

I’ve got my list for SAS and I’m lagging but at least I shouldn’t fly off a mountain due to soft stoppers.
