FJ Summit is a different event, I believe still happens. Occurs in same area. SAS spawned from it, around a campfire one night at the FJ Summit I’m told…
FJ Summit was a very cool well put together event that included all Toyota FWD Vehicles. I went in 2012 never knowing about Ouray or the San Juans. First year was in an FJ Cruiser and the vehicle fit in well with the crowd. Had a great time and learned the trails. Went the next year but drove my FJ40. I was asked several times why a Jeep was attending the Toyota event. Having grown up in LandCruisers I just assumed it was common knowledge but soon realized it wasn't.
I had wanted to do something LandCruiser based in the area but was not sure how to go about it.
Enter @mcguirejohnson , @CenTXFJ60 , and @fl4031003. These Yahoo's had thought the same thing about an event for LandCruisers in Ouray. A few months later and a single thread started by McGuire was the brainstorm for what SAS has become.

We strive to keep this as loosly organized and laidback as we can. This is my and our awesome crew of directors big vacation for the year. Keeping the numbers down has been a struggle because we want to see each and every one of you in August. It's humbling when we sell out in 1:29 minutes to say the least.
I'll use a phrase that Jim's @CruiserTrash wife Karen said, "It's like going to LandCruiser Summer Camp". She nailed it! It is a reunion of like minded folks on a National level each August. We thank all current and past attendees for keeping SAS as cool and welcoming to the LandCruiser community as a whole.

As always if you have any questions feel free to send a DM on here. Glad to help where we can.
Casey..

I'll have to try that line this year. Nik and I straddle the crack.

I’ve never been able to successfully drive up this obstacle with my 40 as it would always want to lift the left front tire. I’m excited to see whether 19 inches of additional wheelbase will make any difference this year.

Cool story and context that I didn’t have. I can’t wait to see your 40.

I have done that "Crack" Line a few times now open-diff. There's a hole about 35" deep on the second landing right side that requires a nerve wracking bump to get past. Easy Peasy after that..

They all work, it's the vehicle and driver that determines the line.
You are correct. What I should have said Is that I have seen more Rigs be successful on that line.
Having spotted, helped and winched meany rigs up that obstacle IMO it's the best line for success. Each year that I go back the holes and ruts are deeper and more challenging.
The only other rigs I have seen make the other lines is Randy @raisinhell2 and myself
