Looks cool to me. I don't even have a console. Next thing ya know, you will want things like doors, a/c, and a radio!

Looks great did you even bondo the corners because your welds looked too good? I say stick with the old console you have better things to work on.

Doors--hopefully, will try to rectify that this weekend. I already have a radio...with a remote :flipoff2: and A/C is for the wagon guys. :D

Yeah I did. It accidentally fell into a bucket of bondo so i figured what the he!!, why not. Finally finished it tonight using the old console so on to the next project... which is...? :hhmm:

How about an exo-cage that wont rattle your brains in a roll over...

Actually just lose the body and make it a buggy :grinpimp::grinpimp:

gone to the brighter side, 22 inches of fun to be had in the dark. :flipoff2: Spot and flood combo

looking really good. i need one of those.

So, I'm doubling down on the HB wireless winch controller mainly just for Adam and the shiite he gave and the fact that they were on sale for $20 again. The biggest gamble i see is the heckling I'll get if this one fails.

Steve had a real one at Windrock and it worked great, was a really convenient item to have on Atomic Ridge, prevented a lot of hiking up and down those steep arse fricking hills.

This time (crossing fingers) I think I got it hooked up without frying it and while at it I wired in an on/off switch as it doesn't have one by default. Mounted the receiver on top of my winch controller box and gave it a test, seems to be working as hoped but frankly only time will tell.

So I hear that running Heim joints make you cool, at least I've been told that and since I need all the help I can get I'm on board.

Actually I'm sick of wearing out Tie Rod ends. I've replaced 2 this year and now need to replace another so instead of throwing more $$ down the drain hopefully these will last longer than 6 months. time will tell.

I've read good things about Ruff Stuff specialties and they seem to be the preferred vendor for heim joints on Pirate, so... Pretty impressed thus far, ordered these on Friday and was hoping to have them in a week, instead, got 'em today.

These are 3/4" x 3/4 Heim joint which means the shank is 3/4" and the through hole is also 3/4", w the alignment spacer I'll be running a 5/8" grade 8 bolt through the steering arm.

I know you have concerns about the size of the bolt, but think about the size of the leaf spring eye bolts Ted - they're smaller than that. jus sayin

Yeah a little concerned, would much rather run a 3/4" bolt. Like i said in my text if i didn't need to clear the top of the leaf spring i wouldn't even use the alignment spacer which would allow me to use a 3/4" bolt but oh well, sure it'll be fine.

Guess I'm working in my own driveway this weekend so will build new tie rod and then I'll have to drill out the tapered hole in the steering arm to a 5/8s straight hole and go from there. Hoping to have ready for the Annual but not required.

It's a bummer I can't get out for the usual work party this weekend but I'll be busy enough farting around in the driveway.

Got the new tie rod and drag link built, heims installed and about ready for action. Found not 1 but 2 smoked tie rod ends so that now makes 4 in 1 year. I had a couple trail spares but of course I needed a left thread and my spares were both right thread. :bang::bang: Because of the Annual next weekend I just went down to Autozone and picked up another 80 Tied rod for $25 to get me through for now but heims will now be going on all the joints.

I put a 5/8 washer on the top side thinking if the joint ever blows it'll serve to keep the heim from coming completely off the steering arm and making a bad situation worse. Dunno if it's worth it or just a stupid idea but shouldn't cause any issues.

Truck is finally ready for the Annual, harnesses installed and front linkages all up to par. The Dodge even got a little much needed love today.

<$40 so not much. Only complaint I have is that the shoulder straps are looong so you have to get a little creative when installing. You'll also need to get your own grade 8 hardware but that's to be expected.

Got the remote winch controller wired up?

Everybody's gonna want one buddy!

Right. The prices are all over the place. ~$40-~$200. I'll have to get creative on mounting mine anyway. I don't have a cross bar on my cage and don't have room for one either.
