I'll pull a tape measure on it tomorrow. :bang::bang: I hear your transfer case and tranny don't like each other any more.

Yea they decided to split up for a bit but I think they will get back together soon enough :D.

I'm glad you finally got dual cases so you can drive circles around everyone and not just follow them around :flipoff2:

At least there's a spare running around the shop somewheres.

I'm looking at triple stick right now, they're a little more than the tradition twinstick setup but I can keep my center console pretty much in place. Josh--your dad was saying you still get 2 lo despite not having twins in your Runner, is this possible? Can't seem to find any info on it unless the case has been modified by grinding on the shifter fork.

Triple sticks would be sweet and I think Steve runs one (RA Designs???) but everyone is back-ordered several weeks so now thinking possible home brew or do later down the road.

I have been looking at triple sticks also so I can put a center console in the 4runner.

I think Dad was trying to tell you that I can put the front case in low and the rear in high so I have 2.28 low in 2 wheel drive but if I engage the rear case it has to be in 4wheel drive and 4.7. Its not that big of a deal for me because I have an ARB in the front so the front axle is not constantly locked like yours. It would be nice to be able to just drive around in 2 wheel drive until I need it though but I need to drop the transfer case to put in dual or triple sticks which will be a pain in my single car garage :frown:

I've found two sources and there's probably more but RA Designs and Dave's Offroad are what I'm looking at. I prefer the RA Designs b/c frankly they just look much better but both are weeks behind having any in stock.

Twin sticks would be better than none but really don't want to go the route due to the center console issue so either going to find a way to build my own Triple sticks (painful) or wait for inventory. Each has its own issues though.

Anyway, I think I've turned into a parent's worst nightmare, almost anyway. A kid who knows what they're getting for Christmas but just can't friggin' wait till then.

Pulled the crawl box part to swap ion the 23 spline and that was easy but found a little something in there while I was at it. Notice the flat side.

Difference b/w 21 and 23 spine, you can see how much beefier the 23 spline is over the 21. I guess your dad now has a spare.

And finally got them all cleaned up and reassembled. Also bolted on the R150F adapter so all i have to do now is throw them in and do some work in the cab.

Guess the guy with the Atlas didn't want to split it up?

Cases look nice, too bad it is going to be under the rig.

short version is it fell through

Say what you guys want about Trail Gear but I ordered these on Monday. 2 Transfer case output flanges

Lots of people talk smack on Trail Gear. I have a bunch of their parts on my rig and no complaints.

The TG complaint was never about the product. It was about Geiger taking all of Marlin's product info and experience and starting his own Trail-Mart.

That, and pretty much all of TG stuff is farmed out to foreign manufacturers from all I've heard. Marlin stuff is made in the USA and is only slightly more expensive in most cases. TG stuff being "Chinese" and mass-produced stuff, you'd think it would actually be a LOT cheaper, not just a little cheaper. Can't say I blame him in his marketing though, he does a great job of making good ideas come to life quickly, but he's probably making a fortune in his pricing schema. :meh:

Absolutely but it is still hard for people to justify paying more for an american part that will perform exactly the same. (flanges, mounts, bumpers etc).

You won't see me w any TG axles or u-joints but they do have products that I would buy.

As a business model he seems to have it figured out.

I agree with all of the above.

I try to buy Marlin whenever I can; Not only to buy American, but also just because of how customer-oriented Marlin is. I mean, he DID build a diff for me for free at K2 in March. Great guy!

But yeah, hard parts like flanges and armor that tolerances and build design aren't paramount, I'd consider TG - dependent mostly on availability.

I retract my statement.

It's my own fault, should've known better. There's enough TG vs Marlin threads out there and frankly it just gets old after awhile.

So where does everyone land on Front Range Off-Road?... :grinpimp:

J/K. I had to throw it out there.

Back on topic, what cross-member/skid are you going to use?

Remind me to slap you at windrock.

It'll be "custom" like everything else on this truck. I'm cheap to begin with but more than anything I just enjoy the build. :wrench::wrench:

I bruise easily so it needs to be somewhere I can hide it:flipoff2:

I wish I had more room to work, I love to :wrench::wrench: but living on 0.10 acres with a 1 1/2 car garage makes it a challenge. Look forward to seeing what you whip up.

Probably a Trail-Queer skid. Be about the same quality anyway - maybe better! :flipoff2:

Duals are officially functioning and my cheap chinese flanges are in and fit [STRIKE]almost [/STRIKE]perfectly, sorry no stupid video of me walking next to the truck while it crawls along.:flipoff2: Next up, redo the center console and I'll be ready for Windrock.

picked up an IFS spare rear axle housing for $20 today-- Thx TR

in the process of building new center hump out of some scrap I had layin around, added some grab handles while I was at it. Can't decide on the actual console, to recycle an old one I built eons ago or do something different.
