Having a heck of a time finding someone that has a remanufactured 4 bolt, 4.25 turn gear box in stock (no luck @ local NAPA, Autozone & O'reilly's ... or at least their help can't find one). Anybody buy one very recently and if so from whom and part # please?

Thanks

This is a 4 bolt 4.25 turn box from Napa. It's a straight, keyed shaft and still shows available at Napa.

Why not try a 3.5 turn Sag box, they actually have a better gear ratio- - -you'll still have power steering, but won't have the mushy road feel.
I'm definitely considering a 3.5 turn. Others have also said they like this setup. But, I'm also having trouble finding a 3.5 turn with 4 bolt mount.

That's a link to a pump.
Ahhh! Dummy me. Sorry.

The 4 bolt 4.25 "box" I have is from Napa and is for a 1969 chevy Bel-air. I took a mini pair of vise grips with me to count the turns. I've heard you never know what they'll put up on the counter.

There's a thread specific to this question, but I can't find it. You could call Georg at Valley Hybrids/Cruiser brothers (650) 576-2023

Here is what I found on Googley.

Thanks. I'm getting the pump and mount and hoses from George. He's been awesome to talk to (actually replied to me from Australia! ) and provided other part numbers. Just didn't reply to the gear question (but I know he's crazy busy).

Thanks. They tell me out of stock and can't get.

I recently had issues with my Saginaw box. The lack of information, and the amount of bad information on the internet about different Saginaw box specs is extremely surprising and frustrating. I went to 3-4 different auto parts stores locally, and literally opened up their steering gear boxes to try and find what I was looking for. I needed a 4 bolt, 4 turn, flare fitting, 13/16" input. I had no luck finding that combo.

Finally, a light bulb came on and I called @orangefj45 and got a NAPA part # from him. I can't believe I didn't do that earlier! I went that day and picked one up locally. Everything about it was perfect. I can't believe it took me so long to find it, or realize I should have called Georg earlier, but oh well.

Ended up with NAPA part # 39-1079. It was around $120.

I don't guess I'd worry too much about a 3 bolt or 4 bolt mounted box, truth is on the older GM vehicles that had a 4 bolt box GM only used 3 of the 4 bolts to mount the box, and on the newer boxes- - -they only have 3 bolt mounting

Ranger Jeff, be aware that the cardone 27-6537 number yields the box you want, however, if you want the same box with a larger piston, otherwise identical you order #27-6529. Rock Auto shows them for $109.

If you can't find one, I have a new in box ( well new under seat) 27-6537 box that I got for a trail spare that could come your way. I do not think you will have too much trouble finding a 27-6529 though.

We spec and use the 6537 or 6529 for our PS install kits. They ship with a list or part numbers for the box, pumps, belts, pulleys, etc that we try and keep up to date. Fwiw the Napa 39-1079 is a 3.5 turn box. The 6537 and 27 boxes should be 4.25 but can come with a different ratio, bring a flange or vise grips to the parts store when you pickup to check. Having driven Cruisers with both ratios, I prefer the 4.25 particularly on larger rigs.

So to conclude my question and THANK everyone for the fast input ... NAPA is still no stock. I ordered 27-6529 from Rockauto and received in 2 days. Confirming it is a 4 bolt 4.25 turn box and matches up with the 4x4 Labs mounting plates and Flaming River splined steering universal FLA-FR1719DD perfectly.

No sorry ,
all I have in my notes from 10-15 years ago was too look for one from
A 67-76 Camaro or firebird
64-76 Chevelle
70-76 Monte Carlo
All boxes suppose to be 4 bolt and close ratio 12.7:1. Or 2.5 to 3 turn box

@pbgbottle , do you have a part # for the 2.5 box? I hate that video game feel of 4.25.
