Wow. Just wow. I really love your build and look forward to seeing all your progress. Make sure you get a set of the WagonGear panels and tailgate storage for yourself to finish it all off. I hear they're pretty slick! :D

As I'm glued to mud waiting for updates on the Kevin Chaos I can't help but think " are you effin kidding me?" then I remember this is his JOB! if I had this as my job I too would...wait I still wouldn't do as bang up bad ass job as you. Kevin you are my hero.

Sexiest thing I've seen all year

Taking a break and doing some computer work...

Curious where you got all of your acid dipping done. I am in Eugene also and about to stumble through this tedious process in a couple weeks.
It's been an adventure finding all new suppliers for things but Eugene has been a great town, I've been able to find everything I need here. The acid dipping was done by a hot-rod place out to the west, Metalworks.
Really did the trick on the hardware, had to have the frame finished off with sand blasting though.

My favourite colour on the 60's great job so far.
I have always really liked the dessert tan ones, wanted one for the longest time but I really wasn't sure I was ready for such a big change, now that I've been around the new color for a few days it's really starting to grow on me, think I'll like it a lot once it's all together.

I love bolting together all the clean and new parts. So much more fun than all the dirty stuff and sanding.
What a difference, worth every single penny.
It is so nice to have rows of nice clean hardware, it was a lot of time invested, and the acid dipping was a bit expensive but everything on that bench came out to just about $200 for the cleaning and plating (it's funny, even if I had only plated 4 bolts, it would still have cost the same amount. :p)
Completely worth it, I will be doing this for smaller jobs in the future as well.

Awesome! So clean and nice! If you ever get bored when this is done, I'll send mine to you ;)!
Well, 3 months salary and you pay for the parts.

What's the story with the Toyota pick-up that is parked in your driveway?

........

Gotta have a truck to take the cruiser parts to town in! :D
Bingo!!!!

That is my "shop truck" I run errands and pick up supplies with her, 1979, bone stock, hardly had to do anything to it.

I know, I've been trying, those things are just too damn expensive though.
I actually keep trying to make myself a set but then I end up having to sell them to someone else. ;p
I do have a pair set aside now though, kinda wish I could just keep the originals that I had in there but it is hard to constantly have to tell people that "these are not what the production ones look like".

Damn Kevin, that's impressive. You're making me look bad on a whole new level :D
Last time I checked you had a running truck at least. :crybaby:
But yeah, you have to admit it doesn't take much though. :grinpimp:

This is my job? Cool.
I thought my job was to make other people panels and cruiser parts, not waste all my time trying to fix my own truck. :bang:
Of course it is taking longer than it should, I am pretty much out of stock on all my parts and I have to get this thing out of the garage so I can make more parts, especially since I am officially (and completely) out of funds at this point. :whoops:

Sexiest thing I've seen all year
You need to get out more.

Hey, I resemble that remark:hillbilly: At least I have a rust free truck now:D

..and now I want to keep my 60 and rebuild it with my daughter as a father-daughter bonding project. Which should be fun, since she is not even 2 yet... Today I taught her the word ratchet as she helped me install a steering stabilizer.

Careful w/ that one Jon, my 2yr/old put the wrench down and went straight to the sandpaper to help "clean Dada truck". My right fender needs a respray now.

Yep Kevin we certainly do. What's say we plan a trip out to Crescent City or the Dunes and you BBQ for us all? I've been wanting to head back up to Grants/Eugene again for a couple years now.

Entirely true.

On a more serious note.... Can you provide any more detail on that rocker chop - specifically how you trimmed the fender?

I plan on doing the same mod for mine before it gets the line-x sprayed on the rockers.

Thanks for all the inspiration!

Ditto that! I'm interested in the details, too. I've got one nasty rocker, so I'm trying to figure out how best to repair it.

Awesome following your progress, by the way.

Yep. She constantly wants to hang out in or around HER trucks. She has figured out how to change all the buttons on the inside (WTH...rear heater is on?). I put some anti-skid tape on the sliders this weekend so she can get in and out easier. And I just got her a mig welder (for the future); not that I wanted one or anything. ;) Now if only her mom would want to do some wrenching too...

I am looking forward to the future tool time and expeditions with her. I will watch the sand paper though. Thanks, Jon

Kevin, I so want to do this. All that cleaned up/plated hardware is so cool. I need a big barn... Thanks for sharing.

The perfectionist in me is going crazy looking at those pics! If only I had an unlimited amount of time and money.... :D

Dude, it's been over a week since you gave us an update. Knowing you, I'm sure you've already driven her around a bit. Quit stalling and give us some pics:D
