WE WERE PROMISED ROAD READY BY THE END OF THE WEEK! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!

give him some slack: we're having a wind/rain storm that is crippling the Eugene area, surely it's made national news....??

I'll send spy photos; for a price....:hillbilly:

Dude, it's been over a week since you gave us an update. Knowing you, I'm sure you've already driven her around a bit. Quit stalling and give us some pics:D
Yeah, yeah, I know, I didn't make it, took a week and two days and I was staying up till 2-3-4 in the morning in order to even make that.

As it turns out my wife's sister and husband showed up for the ski vacation (that we were supposed to drive the cruiser over the mountain for) and I didn't have it ready yet so they stuck around here for an extra day to help button things up enough to get her on the road,.... a day late but we made it.

WE WERE PROMISED ROAD READY BY THE END OF THE WEEK! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!
You were promised nothing!
I posted the QUESTION as to whether I could have it road worthy in the week like I was supposed to. :p
I failed. And in the process had too little time to post photos. :crybaby:

Anyway, I have a few photos, answer a few questions first:

Awesome to see this....but I know that you are going to miss that tool box under the front seats. That was slick.
Who says I'm not going to have it anymore?
Just an updated version, more on that later.

Yep Kevin we certainly do. What's say we plan a trip out to Crescent City or the Dunes and you BBQ for us all? I've been wanting to head back up to Grants/Eugene again for a couple years now.
Sounds like a plan! (or at least the beginning of one) come on up!

On a more serious note.... Can you provide any more detail on that rocker chop - specifically how you trimmed the fender
Did I not post enough photos?
What other info are you looking for, I need to take more photos so I can see if there is something I can snap a pic of, not sure what info you're looking for, you just chop off the metal you don't want.

Kevin, I so want to do this. All that cleaned up/plated hardware is so cool. I need a big barn... Thanks for sharing.
I know! That clean hardware makes all the difference in the world, so much nicer to put things together that way.
And I need a big barn as well....

So just a few progress pics, there are a bunch of detail filler ones to come, but there are more pressing things to catch up on first.

Those were some late nights, but ready to be loaded, one day late:

Good job! :)

Gonna stay badgeless? I saw SOR has gold emblems on sale. You should totally put them on haha.

Seriously, good work sir.

Holy ****, Kevin. Now I feel feel guilty every time I look at my panels, given that you were kind enough to ship them in lieu of going in your truck.

Of course, the feeling doesn't last long after seeing the Glossy Wench in all her glory....hope your neighbors realize how lucky they are to have you sprucing up the 'hood.

Sweet Friday night, I just got my 61 running again with new alt (of course the warning lights are all on still...) and I come inside to have a cold Guiness and check in on the formerly rusty wagon rebuild to find its done! Never finished of course, but roadworthy. Of course I'm anxiously for more details and close ups, eventually.

Cheers Kevin!

Dude, you've got a nice house! Good work:cheers:

The newly rebuilt cruiser is excellent. I can't wait to see her in person:D

Absolute perfection, as always. Good work Kevin!

I'd like to ask if the body mount bushings are stock or an aftermarket and if the dimensions are the same the factory ones. I'm needing a little advise on this. This thread is a godsend for me whos slowly restoring some portions. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Wow! That's a ton to do in a week's time. Time for a breather, you've earned it.

Damn dude! Whats your address, I'll send you a $20 so you can go drink a couple cold beers on me. Your work is always amazing but I didnt realize that there were enough hours in the day to finish what you did in a week.

Whats the "nuts and bolts" pile look like now? Did you rememebr where everything went?

I just want to hide my truck now, on the off chance I might pull up next to you some day... :crybaby:

Ummm, yeah, I'll have to think about that one. :p
But yes, no badges, I filled all the holes in with bronze, just the logo on the grill and that's it.

That's ok Ward, I needed the funds more than I needed the panels, those damn things are too expensive for me anyway.
I've got another set here almost ready to go in.

Far from "done" for sure.
There is still a ton to do even to wrap up this stage.
Big thing is that the power steering doesn't work, that sucks.
I sent a spare box to West Texas for a rebuild but I guess I should have sent a different box, I'll have to switch back to my old one.

Dude, you've got a nice house! Good work:cheers:

I'm sure we'll catch up sooner or latter Johnny!
And like I said, we don't really fit in the neighborhood. :D
Luckily it's Eugene and pretty much anything goes. And thankfully it's not our house, just renting a carriage house with an apartment over it, the house that was supposed to go with it was never built due to the crash so it works well for us for now.

Fixed it for ya George......
8.5 hours to drive for a swap meet.....
I don't think I can make that happen. :p

Wait, garage looks clean and the lawn is manicured, I call schenanigans!
The many faces of OCD.
I will admit to the shop being clean (ish), there is no way I could get this done in a messy shop.

The lawn however is far from manicured, in fact it has a rusty cruiser body sitting upside down on one corner of it.

If you look closely you can see my collection of golf balls that stray into the yard from the course, pretty sure they hate me over there.

nice work man! my fav color on a 60!
I've always liked the Tan ones, but to be honest I am having a really hard time adjusting to the color change, doesn't feel right yet.

Man. To go from a frame and empty body with a s*** ton of loosely organized hardware to a running truck in a little over a week blows me away.
"Loosely organized"!??!?!?! I spent hours on that! :flipoff2:
But yeah, there are a lot of hours not showing up in the pics.

I re-used the stock body mounts, all the hardware was cleaned and plated but the rubber is the same old stuff.

Come out and visit and you can buy a few!
(or I have to fly to Denver in two weeks if you want to head south.... :D)
I've actually got tons of hardware left over, I cleaned and plated all my spares and the better part of two trucks worth of nuts and bolts, kind of bad that way though since you can't just take a glance at what you forgot.

I just want to hide my truck now, on the off chance I might pull up next to you some day... :crybaby:
Not at all Tony!
I hope we run into each other in the relatively near future, you better not go and hide, you've got a bunch of sibling parts on your tan truck now, they need to say "hi" to each other.

Just a driveway pic of out Toyota collection, patiently waiting while I clean out the garage today, in order to make some space to pull back in and get some more things buttoned up.
Is it odd that the newest car we have is an 85?

Kevin,

You rip dude! I think all I got done in that same time period is put in a new headlight relay harness. Looks great.

Cheers,

Jon
