I replaced the engine harness and motor a while back and the truck sat for a while so I left the ECM and a couple of relays hanging behind the glovebox... when I move the wires she cranks.... problem is I dont remember where to mount the 2 relays... Can somebody help? Pre 95' dash BTW,...

thanks guys, but I still dont see the relays in question...

I'll see if I have what you are looking for. Took a lot of pics when I had my dash pulled apart.

Is the male end for the female yellow plug on your small relay in the vicinity of its home? I dont remember unhooking that one or 061700 relay when I ran my new harness. I did use the old harness and the "learned" position of the old plugs-what angles they hung at-to help with reassembly. The ECU was tough to get back in place. If you try to set it in its position, and its too easy, one of those may end up behind it. Have you looked at the wiring diagrams?

I don't see those in any of my pics.

There are these two relays on top, but don't think that is what you are looking for.

Let me know if you see anything interesting as I have more pics.

Come on man, they can only reach so far and the harness should be pretty well pre-formed after all these years. Only a handful of locations it can reach and a smaller number where the harness sits properly. Do a little analytical thinking and testing and you'll find it. I just did this with a friends dismantled 2003 Jetta, he took it apart to replace the radiator...which requires removing the whole front end...fenders forward that he couldn't figure out where a bunch of hoses and wires went after he removed them to buy replacements. Then he had a bowl full of hardware he had no idea where it went that I had to figure out for him....never having worked on any of these things on a newer VW before. If I can do it I'm positive you can.

I should mention it has to be a pre 95' truck the dash changed... yep you would think I could figure it out but i must be getting old.. :) problem is there are several holes and mounting posions that it could be placed in... dont want to mount anything wrong if possible. It's hard to believe that the wires being bent can cause the thing NOT to start but it will!
