dude! nice job looks great!!

thanks man it was a lot of work and i still have a good bit ahead of me, with altering or swapping springs (tho that may wait a bit since i wont be wheeling it to soon) still need to do steering stops and mount ram assist and drill and tap steering box for the ram. along with other crap. it never really ends i dont think. but so far im pretty happy, this was a HUGE accomplishment on my list so im still pretty excited.

Get rid of those huge shackles and she'll come down a bit, then flex out the springs really well. They'll flatten out pretty quick and you won't have to take too much apart.

What's in the back of the 60? Front axle housing, but what's special about it?

Oh yeah, CONGRATS!!!!!
:beer::beer:

WOW THATS BIG stick some 4D's on it and wheel it :grinpimp:

and whats up with the white 40 in the back ground ???

and my shackles are newish stock

yea i need to do something, i have a pair of shorter shackles around here someplace but i would still need 2 more.

and yea its a front axle housing from a 78 or 79 or something for my green 40, im going to cut all the crap from it and have it prepped and clean for when i SOA my 40:steer:

39.5" Iroks are what i want... or maybe your boggers if you go bigger... i got some OME springs, Longer anti inversion shackles (i get your "newis stock" ones), and either a set of 33x12.50-15 BFG muds or a set of 35x12.50-15 TXR's ill trade you all of it for the set under patches... you know you want 42's...
oh yea i also have a set of 15x8 chrome street lock wheels ill let go as well.

and white 40 is a 1970 that im doin a little work on for another guy.

Good Job! Those welds look nice. 2x on the smaller shackles...you can lose 2.5 inches right there. Thing looks HUGE.

thank you, and thank you for following, ive still got more that i will be doing do it so keep following.

Just got off the phone with Luke at 4x4 labs and ordered my cone spacer for my pitman arm, it was a whopping $8 plus any shipping i guess but id say its small enough for a little envelope. it will even ship today he said!

quick easy and he knew exactly what i was talkin bout and thats what i like.

That is huge. About 7" taller than my SOA on 33's.
If you go shorter shackles you'll probably end up with too much caster since your at 6* now :meh:. Go for the 39.5's

39s and a straight 5, I like.:grinpimp:

lol, yea for now anyways.:hillbilly:

I know... im to damn tall by a mile!

i think caster will still be tollerable. i have a set of stock FJ62 springs i think im going to put under her to lower her back down and maybe some stock or slightly longer than stock length shackles if joel was seriously interested.

that should put me right back at normal SOA height. I still plan on 39.5's and im no scared to do some cutting to make em fit. i really like how freds40's FJ60 came out and that is kinda what i have in mine.

here is freds40's fj60 on 39.5" Iroks.

sad parts is I kind of do like it but because I;m thinkin of partin the buggy out to build the 40 up

that makes me rather sad...

however!

if you do pull it apart there are prolly a couple of other things i could use off of her too. if you dont pull her apart and just want to go bigger im serious about my offer. I also have a YJ back seat that could use a good cleaning, pulled it from the 40 since i dont have any kids the jump seats are good with me. ill toss it in as well, or if you can use it in general its yours.

i just wanted to post this to the thread as i will be doing my ram assist here soon, went and got some supplies today from home depot, then also HERE is a link the the write up Mace did on how to port a FJ60 gear box for ram assist, i think it is in FAQ but i wanted a link in my thread as i found it a good detailed write up. I will also try and document mine as well but i think JAson pretty much got it all nailed and laid to rest.

Also got my 80 series taper TRE to 60 series pitman bushing today, it was 8 bux and like 5 bux shipping... shipping seemed a little excessive but for the simplicity of the money spent ill deal with it. part was of good quality metal it seemed and worked exactly as it should have with proper depth into pitman, so no complaints.

Here are a couple of shots for those interested.

first one is just of the bushing on the ground 2nd is the bushing slid onto the TRE. (these were taken with my cell phone)
