Motivation

If you supply the beer, I can supply the motivation. Plus, maybe when I start my conversion you could supply me with some motivation, elbow grease, mechanical knowledge, etc, etc...
Seriously though, Im ususally not doing anything in the evenings and if its dry Ill just zip over on my bike. Gives me an excuse to ride it.

not a ton to add but made it out to the garage a bit:

made a plate to mount the Hydroboost in the stock location:

then I pulled the column to mount the orbital directly to the firewall so I woulnt have issues with the body flexing with the orbital mounted to the frame. The bonus is that I dont have to redo any of the wiring:

with a little luck I should be able to get it all plumbed and move onto building the crossmemebers.

Cool! Expect to be able to drive it on the road with full hydro?

Yup, I know there is a lot of debate about doing so but I dont really see any reason that full hydro isnt streetable. That being said, ol' blue doesnt pull double duty anymore so her roadtime is minimal. If I ever get my rear end in gear and get to rubicon or Moab, I'll trailer her down. Most of my local wheeling is about 20 to 30 mins from my front door.

FINALLY got around to start mocking up my th400, 203/205 stuff. Originally I was going to run the th350 and the floor wasnt a problem but with the extra length of the 400 and because I wanted to tuck the drivetrain up as high as I could the floor needed modification... it was inevitable. Especially when you have Boots and Dirtgypsy egging you on!

Hanging too low:

going up:

Floor in the way:

And presto... drivetrain tucked nicely:

and then for just sh*ts and giggles (and because my first attempts at welding/slider project needed to go) we raced to see what was faster to cut metal.

Angle grinder vs. sawzall (I'm the ugly dude in red without any eye protection...oops)

I won:

Onto building the crossmember now that I have the drivetrain mocked...

Moral of the post? Dont have Boots and Dirtgypsy over for a "work party" if you want to keep your floor intact. :grinpimp:

thanks again for the help guys.

Sweet

Id say that is worth loosing some floor for.

How's the crossmember coming along?

How's the crossmember coming along?

My daughter's league soccer started again so that means I'm coaching again for a few months but I did make a bit of progress...

Bent the first hoop:

then made a template from that:

I'm not going to lie... having a plasma sure is nice:

fits pretty darn well:

that's it for now but I'm really trying to make an effort to spend some time in the garage each night even if its just for a few mins and get this thing done.

I forgot to mention that I'm pretty sure I'm ditching those stock style mounts and going back to the cut rubber boat roller mounts. I'm simply just giving up too much ground clearance with these mounts:

Are you going to cut out part of the tube and make it flat for the round mounts to rest on? I guess you could weld some c-channel pieces onto the tube to give you a flat surface (so that the tube fits into the channel).

I'm thinking that I'll mount the pancake mount between the flat plate you see in the pics and adapter (plate being on top of tube for flat surface) and then mount another pancake rubber mount below the plate with a large washer between the bolt head and rubber.

THEN below that I'll skin the the bottom of the tube with some of the plastic cutting board stuff I have or some more plate.

I'm still coming up with the plan to support the 205 but have some good ideas.

Did that make sense?
