I got the receiver shackle. Pretty nice. And HEAVY. If I have to use it hopefully I'm not the one stuck :D

Is your hitch reviewer wielded to the frame?

No. Bolted with 6 bolts. 3 per side/ frame rail. Hitch installer supplied the bolts. Probably more than strong enough. I think the pin would shear before one of the 6 bolts.

It's an old Draw-Tite unit I bought locally. Painted and then put on by a very reputable shop.

Nice recovery addition A. I have had bad luck with that type of receiver pin (probably just me). I like the one that goes through the pin instead of around it. J

Thanks J

I got this one for free. I'd like to buy a locking one so I can leave this shackle on 24/7 without worry of theft. Although the ball is probably a better idea. So people don't ride my a$$ in traffic. Although they still will

Nice.... You find the hitch work well as a slider Offroad ... I have ground the bottom edges almost off LoL

Sent from outer space via my mind

Where did you find this. I have the same size D-ring as you but can not find a receiver with the stepped down thickness like yours. Looks good!

The receiver shackle is a Smittybilt unit. I bought it on Amazon because 4WP said they had none in stock locally. Turns out they did because a buddy bought one at another location.

Added a recovery point to the front. 80 series tow point works perfectly. Same bolt spacing as the 60. Bottom of the frame rails where the ARB brackets attach to. About 2-3/8"

Ready for a weekend of wheelin'

Had a great weekend of wheeling out at Hidden Falls. TLCC-Houston plus a couple of friends of club members came along. At one point we had 11 vehicles going down the trails at once haha

The 60 did great. KM2's aired down to 15psi. No major damage to report. No dents. Had a mudflap almost fall off, but I fixed it the next morning. Only needed to stack rocks at a few ledges because I didn't have enough clearance (shackles/ bumper in the way) I felt like I just pointed and it went. I love wheeling in this thing.

I mostly just have glamour shots, others took wheeling photos of me I hope and I will post those when I get them. Along with video from the GoPro when I have time to edit that.

Cool photos! I live about an hour south of marble falls. I was actually planning on going up there this past weekend, but I didn't get time to fix my broken birfield. I'm sure you are aware of this but a couple of 60s have rolled there back on the fence line.. We bought one of them for a parts car. What trails did you go on?

I'd have to get a map to figure out which ones we did. We camped in Area 51. Did some of the trails along the fence I'm pretty sure. I know one 60 rolled there. It's a white one behind the office. Last time I was there I think there was a blue one in good shape sitting back there. Did that one roll too? The rolled white one makes me sad :frown:

I live an hour east of hidden falls. I'm not ashamed to say I take the bypass on the fence line. Too tall to be that off camber

Yeah. It sounds like there is a really nasty spot somewhere. We probably did not encounter that. I wheel like a :princess: too

Is this the one your talking about? It rolled about 2 years ago:

And I don't remember the blue one.. I think two white ones rolled if I'm not mistaken. And if it makes you feel any better my dad is doing a frame off on the white one and using all the drive train and swapping a blue body on it!

There was a white one there yesterday that had damage from being rolled I think. Couldn't be the one your dad bought. The one I saw had alloy wheels on it, not black. That one looks like it got it worse than the one I saw anyway.

Good on him for restoring it :)

Ah gotcha so it was a recent incident.. Bummer. And ya I will be posting up a build thread soon! Just have to get the slow boring stuff out of the way first..

What's next?

  • Keep putting gas in it
  • Figure out a rear storage solution
  • Keep playing with the 2F
  • Start some progress toward the 2FE

It's hard to find time to play with this thing. I love working on it. But it is my only car. Can't take it down for too long.

For rear storage I need a better way to hold my subwoofer, fluids, tools, recovery strap, etc. I've just got the sub free standing in a box, all the fluids/ other things in milk crates, and an ammo can.

I would need some vertical height to have room for fluids, everything else could be stored in a flat space. So I'm constantly thinking what I could do. Although it really isn't that bad right now. :meh:
