haha alright i can relate to that notion. how many miles do you have on the exhaust? in my experience, newly installed exhausts tend to mellow out over time as they get caked with soot / carbon buildup

also get a set of Baby Banz infant earmuffs. i go see a lot of live music and it is a very commonly used brand for people with kids
No clue, maybe a thousand or so?

Good call on the ear protection, will look into it

Are you a first time parent? If so the subtle difference in exhaust note on your SUV should be the last of your worries. Keep it simple.
Yup, first kiddo is 2.5 and 2nd (and last) kiddo is due at the end of March. Baby #1 has been in some pretty loud vehicles (Escalade V, 392 Wrangler, Durango Hellcat, CT5-V Blackwing, Bronco Raptor, etc) and couldn't have cared less.

My kids like the exhaust note of my GX. When it was drone-prone, they didn't complain at all, just me.

Weird how that works... we're probably too harsh on ourselves in these cases. My wife is an audiologist and the GX's new exhaust doesn't bother her in the least.

The obvious solution to this problem is that you buy something way louder and dumber than the GX so that the GX is your quiet, sensible car.

Once the funds allow I'm fun car hunting in the $5k range. Probably won't be for a few years but I've had Miatas, a Corvette, Challenger, WRX, and other fun-first things as well. This go 'round might be for an F-Body Camaro or Trans Am with an imperfect body but perfect mechanicals, chuck some good suspension goodies at it, and call it a day. At least that's what I tell myself now. Check back tomorrow and I'll be justifying to myself why an ND Miata is the right move (and in all reality what I'll probably buy when the funds allow).

Also check out Porsche Boxsters. They can be had for pretty cheap and VERY fun to drive.

Boxsters are great but maintenance/repairs on them for anything beyond the basics can be a PITA. My free time is very limited so I'm always going to be focused on "the most fun car is the one that always works" over the last 5% of added fun.

Just a fun pic I wanted to share -- same rock, different life

& here's what the KO2s looked like when the truck was beached in the photo above. The KO2s have been great but they definitely lack traction in the mud. Not that they would have had a chance here with the belly of the rig stuck and thus preventing it from moving, but it shows how an A/T doesn't clean out all that well.

34x10.5R17 KO2s stuff nicely in the GX's rear fenders. Think there was slightly more room for compression before hitting the limit. Definitely room for some 35"s though...

I've long been looking for a decent way to mount the ScanGauge III and finally found something that will (hopefully) be the solution. It feels like something I should have thought of but ADVTR3D is 3D printing a mount for the gauge that accepts a RAM ball mount on the back, and with the RAM track setup I have on the dashboard speaker grille a plan came into place so I ordered it up and it showed up today. Quality is good-- no burrs, well printed, and such (what else is there to say about a 3D printed product?)-- and for $24.99 shipped it will hopefully do the job.

And a bonus for us with Pareidolia-- it has a face on both sides!

RAM adapters on the way, hoping to get it all mounted the right way this weekend

Is that the same spot we had to winch you out last time?

Hahaha no thankfully not. That would be embarrassing... never done that before... definitely not on the ATV in the same spot in the same mud pit at AOAA two trips in a row...

I got stuck last week goofing around in the snow where they just clear cut to build a new neighborhood. I went to turn around and sunk the front end into like 2 feet of mud/snow mix while articulated over something. I may have eventually gotten out myself with the right combination of letting traction control figure it out and/or sending it backwards but it was a lot faster to get get yanked out with a kinetic rope. That also meant I didn't have to walk through the rest of the mud pit to get to a winchable tree.

Redid the cargo area organization setup, for probably the 10th time. My 2nd kid is due to arrive any day now so needed to consolidate and maximize space in the process (kids and their stuff take up a s***ton of room). So... big plastic bin from Home Depot is dong the job of holding everything, at least for now. In it lives recovery gear, bottle jack, jumper and jumper cables (can never be too safe), misc tools, garbage bags, towels, gloves, and baby wipes. All the emergency things I hope to ever need.

I've tried a lot of solutions and this is the simplest and cheapest. That said it somehow is at max capacity so needs to be slimmed down even further lol

Drawers are the way to go. For 4x4ing, taking the kids to the park, or going shopping. I usually have one that's full of permanent gear and the other that is open and empty for whatever I'm doing that day. I literally use them to haul groceries on a not infrequent basis....or load them full of tools as well.

I have the Yakima drawers stashed in the shed at the moment. With a stroller and other baby-related stuff I found them to be slightly prohibitive. They're great for wheeling but just didn't work for me on an everyday basis; YMMV.
