I don't know anything about an autofill function or programming the "little" computer. Slee installed it, but I would assume based on my inspection and having installed one on my 80 that the switch connects directly to the pump with a senor connected to the fuel level sensor. It automatically shuts off when the tank is detected as empty for I think 2 minutes. I would ask Ward Harris any further questions in his thread on the tanks for 200 series
Please PM Georg Esterer for tech questions @orangefj45

I upgraded my HAM radio to a yaesu FTM-400XDR. Real nice unit

I ended up swapping the position of the tablet and the radio. They are both RAM Mou

Nice, Ken!
I just ordered the EXACT same unit yesterday.

With same tech, it means we could track the other’s position... -Pretty slick setup for a leader/gunner combo. Wouldn’t have to wait for verbal distance/positioning cues because it can show up on screen. Mine won’t arrive til late Feb (backordered due to the killer rebate), but looking forward to it.

One cool feature will be setting up a handheld to work in conjunction with it on one band...let ting it instantly rebroadcast to the group frequency at its full 50 watts more like a known relay station. So if out of the truck, you can still reach out full distance with a handheld use a handheld instead of its 3, 5 or 8 watts.

Anyway...fun stuff!

Next cam the Ham Radio. I installed the Yaesu FT-7800 that has been in my 80 and 100. Great Radio. Problem is the mount wouldn't work for the antenna. I went to HRO and found a mount that works on the hatch below the glass

The 200 has an advantage over the other rigs I have built with the space set aside for wiring. I went ahead and strung wire for the HAM, CB and AUX power outlet

Then used a angle piece a plastic I JB welded above the ashtray and used adhesive tape to put the faceplate on

@Romer any chance you could shed a little light on the 'angled piece of plastic' you used to mount this faceplate? I bought the same rear hatch mount the other day as well .

Just read your whole thread, great job on everything!

It was just something I had in my junk drawer. It has been tossed since I put my new radio in.

My daughters GX470 had a similar angle and I cut a piece of wood until the angle was right. Then I painted it black and used Velcro on both sides

Nice choice, I have the same radio. Now if I can just get the other guys in our group to get their licenses lol.

I am really liking this Radio. I still have to play with it to overlay others APRS info I am traveling with on a map. One of the main reasons for the radio is so others can track me in case of emergencies over aprs.fi. Here is my track the last day all made from my Radio being on and transmitting a beacon

Great to hear, Ken! I’ve got mine ready to go, but my license test keeps getting pushed back as I figure out new ways of procrastinating. Will be a nice field test of at least two APRS units that can see each other in Ouray. The web-map tracking is nice, but I’ll be even more interested in seeing the positioning info of other trucks in a trail group.

I have been using tool trays for the last year to organize my drawers

When I was at Slee Friday I saw the ARB Organizers. Well you know, it wasnt that I needed them :D

I will take some time to reorganize later and use the labels for the boxs. I left the Recovery one there as that is where I put my recovery gear :)

I was at Slee to have my rear springs swapped from 2723's to 2724's. Since I added the rear tank and 2nd spare tire I have been dragging more. It didn't look lower in the back. I got heavier springs and now the back is a bit higher. I forgot to take before and after shots

Thicker than Kimberley canvas, it appears. Stiff?

Finally got some time to make the APRS work on my Samsung without the internet. For some reason the standard serial port out of the Radio packets are not formatted to work with APRS droid, But if you blue tooth them in, it will work

I followed this video

I ordered the parts discussed when you open the text portion below (select more)

I only had one issue, since I have multiple Bluetooth items paired on my tablet, I had to on the APRS connection tab where you select Bluetooth SPP demonstrated in the video, you have to go down 2 spots to "TNC Bluetooth device" and tell it which paired device to talk to

It worked pretty well.

I prefer Gaii, but this only works with Back country navigator. What I am talking about is showing other APRS rigs on your topo map along with the trail

Quick shots in my garage of APRSdroid and also Backcountry Navigator while sitting in my garage

I just bought the same radio (it's back ordered though) and doing a similar antenna set up. I'm looking forward to messing with the APRS stuff, but this is all new to me. Any options for IOS devices, or is it all Andriod?
Anything I gotta have before I hit the road to Ouray? SD card to load settings, etc.

That radio has been in a constant state of backorder for at least the last year. They do keep churning them out though. For me, it’s a great choice because of the extremely readable screen, and the combination of button and touch-screen. Super helpful to see even with my seriously screwed up vision. Also...the screen can be used for various other functions. Favorite non-radio screen is a elevation tracking screen. Also the graphic signal/scope is very helpful.

Had one hiccup early on with an external speaker...but only because I had a mono speaker plug. It needs a stereo (or three ring/contact) plug because of how it sends power to the speaker from the two frequencies. Other than that, this radio suits me nicely, although I have barely scratches the surface.

I know windows works, maybe apple. I just researched what I had to get it to work. The only thing you need for Ouray is to have the radio installed and operating. APRS will work using the website aprs.fi to let others follow your tracks. There are some easy setup items you can find doing a search. There are a few Youtube videos out there

Adding a Tablet is a neat thing, but not needed for Ouray. My view is it would be more for expedition type wheeling. It would be cool in normal situations, but it gravy on an already great meal. :)

For those who own ARB Fridges, did you know the 12V outlet end screws off and there is a different connector option? This option is more stable during offroad as I have had 12V outlets get intermittent. To make it work you need to order this plug setup for the 12V truck side
ARB Plug.JPG

I had wired this in last fall. I find that even with the fridge off, there is a drain on the battery so I ended up unplugging it when not in use.

I wired in another USB power socket to run the serial to Bluetooth adapter for my HAM setup I posted above. This allows meto communicate APRS location info to my Tablet and Topo maps

I wanted the better Fridge connector so I wouldnt have to unplug/plug depending on use. So I made a switched power setup, not as nice as what Marksun or Cole would do, but fully functional for my needs. The switch will route power to the fridge and the normal 12V outlet and the dual USB outlet that powers the Bluetooth device

Yes I know I havent put in the 4th bolt to that cover piece as of yet

Oh you will notice the fridge power cable goes forward and then comes back. I it loops on a clamp up front before coming back to ensure there isn't enough slack in the cable to get pinched in the drawer slide. I had busted a cable once. I am using the fire extinguisher clamp for this, but anything will do that does the same function

I resolved a couple of things that bugged me.

First, it's a pain to get the spare off as you have to take off the license plate holder

Plus, on many runs I want to be able to use the Trasharoo I used on my 100. Great for picking up trash and when you are gone long, putting the waste bags from the PETT Toilet setup. So I moved the IH8MUD plate to my workshop wall, and used a small piece of steel I had lying around to move the stock plate location so it would be legal and not blocked by the tire

I put a piece of fluffy material behind the bolt connecting the two and also on the back side of the plate farthest from the bolts so protect the paint. The fluffy material is the soft side of velcro

I had to take the trim off the top door and reconnect the lights. Slee had disconnected them when they relocated the plate. This is the setup on an ARB Rear Bumper

Now I have an extra two pinner connected to the headlights ( I tapped it up) I can use for something else. Hmmmmm
