Worked for me now mine is perfect at a great price
I read how connections could be loose, so I planned on opening her up upon arrival to inspect and fix anything.
Control box was missing a mounting screw, and just bouncing around inside. Used one of the panel cover screws to secure it.
I checked all the female connectors and they were all loose. I pulled them all and the wire crimps looked good. Seems they just needed a little tightening with some pliers at the attachment points. Now they fit nice and tight!
I plugged it in and the box went down from 47 deg to the negatives in no time!

Definitely plan on making a blanket. At -8deg, the box was cold on the outside.
And the damage doesn't bother my at all.

My other fridge has benefited from an insulating blanket but I was not able to locate one on line for the Edgestar.So out came the bubble insulation and duct tape. A couple hours later I have an insulating blanket.(Red/Green would be proud) Not 100% sure if Im going to make a top or not but for now its better then it was.

What ever the reason is matters not to me, all I know is it has a real compressor and I could afford it.
Knowing I'd never have to buy as much ice and never constantly have to drain the old 50qt cooler made rolling the dice on this purchase easy.
I looked at the patent site for freezer blankets and although there are several none have been filed by Phil so I'm copying his and offering no apology

I'm going to switch it up and use aluminum tape (cause that's what I have) and use Miller Lite to fuel the blanket building. I'll use the duct tape savings to buy more Miller Lite to put in my fridge.

I had a 84qt Norcold holds 102 12oz cans
I dropped my fridge off at FedEx last night and it looks like it will be delivered to Edgestar today. It's only about 3 hours away though. Does anyone have experience with how long Edgestar takes to do repairs? Their stellar customer service representative didn't tell me. I may want to go camping soon and a fridge bigger than the one in my popup would be nice.

Over at expiditionportal one guy says his turn around was less than a week. You could always call and see if they have a bigger one that they could supplement if yours is caput!
I'm okay with the 63 quart, I definitely don't want a bigger one. And I don't think anything bigger or taller would work with my slide. The 63 is just small enough to sit in the outboard rear seat of my pickup, as well. I'm going to have to look and see how I can secure it in there and keep the functionality of the folding rear seat. Definitely going to need some metal handles.
I had an incident a long time ago with a full cooler sliding all the way from the back of my SUV (not my LX) and hitting me in the back during an emergency stop (my fault for not securing it to something), so I'm a little leery of this fridge in the car. I'll probably pony up and get a real slide when I can afford it or build something with sturdy with 500lb slides.

I'm surprised some ARB-type out there hasn't yet made some snide comments about the Edgestar in this thread...
Maybe these prices have them hiding in shame...?
tech: mine is working flawlessly. Well, at least as long as I watch the voltage drop on the wires. If I had my druthers, I would want to have an adjustable low voltage cutoff, that would simplify life a bit and/or be more versatile.
Just wish I'd use it more often... gotta get a life! Great for Costco ribs runs, though...

I'd love to have an ARB or something else, but I'm not ready to put that kind of chili down for a fridge. I wasn't planning on doing this setup until I started driving this vehicle full time. I normally save my money to buy nice stuff one time unless a really good deal comes along. Hopefully I won't regret after the warranty runs out.
Ours will be used for Costco & grocery trips, extra fridge space for parties, camping, and lake trips. I usually spend $15-20 per long weekend to fill my 165 quart with ice, so this should eventually pay for itself (or I will tell myself that anyway).

Going to use the same slides as I used for my drawer system, they came out of a government class 6 legal filing safe, I think I have a pair or two left, check my threads I posted in the classifieds but haven't bumped it in a while because I'm no totally sure how many I have left, they weigh 20lbs a pair so they're not exactly meant for light loads!
I may next month have access to some almost free server rack mount slides rated for 125lbs, there are about 20 full racks chuck full of 4RU rails and all are being retired, if I get them for free I'll pass them along super cheap plus shipping.
The safe slides cost more because I had to rent a truck to go pick up the safes, rent a unit to store them, and what not. I'm not getting rich on them but for what they are you won't find anything even close for the money. Like you I'm ballin on a next to nothing budget, all my 80 money comes from side jobs, flipping auction stuff, or any other way I can scratch a couple bucks together.

I have an ARB but I wish I'd paid this little. I did make a comment on an earlier thread about what I'd 'heard' about Edgestar (hit and miss quality) but the price is right , and if it's working, it's working. I certainly don't care ablout branding as long as it works.
As for the LV cutoff, I was thinking of investing in one of these:

It think the quality is low, and a techie guy could probably build his own, but it serves the purpose of protecting your starting batteries....
