I opened the panel on my fridge to inspect things and maybe figure out why it had the problem with AC power I mentioned in a previous post. I noted, about the third connection from the top on the junction block (small red wire) the spade was half unplugged. I plugged it back in all the way, but the spade still felt kind of loose. All of the connections feel kind of loose. If I have anymore trouble ill try to tighten these up or replace the spade connectors (which looks difficult if the internals can't be removed.

Check the video Phil posted, most everything you can't get to drops out of the bottom.

Thanks, sorry I was looking for a long hyperlink in your posts and didn't see that link to the Edgestar website.

After looking at it, there's really not much to break on the unit. I know the DC power works, compressor works, the AC power cord works, so I think it's probably a bad power supply/converter/inverter (whatever you want to call it). Sometimes when I plug the AC in, the display comes on for a second and then goes off and then no power at all, like it's grounding out. I'll call Edgestar and see what they want me to do with it.

For anyone that cares, I built a slide for the 63 quart to go in my LX470. It's not final yet, but is pretty close. I just need to bolt it in the truck and make sure the fridge door has clearnace to open all the way. I basically copied another Mud user's design. See my build here, Post #34: https://forum.ih8mud.com/expedition...w-fridge-stove-slide-combo-2.html#post9009239

I contacted edgestar about my fridge being inop on AC power. They gave me the option of returning it (to openbox I assume) for a refund or shipping it to edgestar for repair. I chose to send it in for repair. Although I might have chose a refund if 43 quarts were available. The 63 quart is feeling bigger each time I have to lift it. So as soon as I finish my fridge slide, I'll have no fridge. I need to work on running 12v power to the rear anyway.

Does anyone know or have an opinion if 6ga wire will be enough to power the fridge and maybe add some LEDs in the future? Someone gave me a short roll of 6 gauge copper and I'd really like to use it. Based upon online reviews, the fridge will spike to around 5 amps and will normally run around 4 amps. I will be running power from the stock battery to the passenger rear corner.

Little to none voltage loss with #6 Awg cu powering your fridge and LED's

Anyone know what guage wire the 63 qt Edgestar has for the DC cable?

I just packed mine in a shipping box or I'd tell you. It felt like the standard small wire you'd have on a 110v item (like a lamp).

Thanks, looks like mine should be here tomorrow. I was going to order some connectors and such. Just getting a little anxious I suppose.

I plan on switching to a Marinco locking plug and outlet. The plug it comes with just barely sits in a standard 12v outlet. I hope you have better luck with your fridge than I did, but if you don't you aren't alone!

You should put a small Sharpie mark on the bottom to see if you get it back or it ends up with another mudder!

There is a pretty distinguishable dent in one of the vents, dropped on both corners on the compressor side, and the service plate doesn't line up with the AC port :) No wonder it doesn't work!

I'd like to see a pics of the 63 and 80 in the back of an 80 series, just to see what room is left around them. Our 45 is big enough for weekending, but I have considered going bigger for a long trip we have planned.

Mine should be here today. I'll post some pics for you.

no doubt the 63 (I think it's actually 63L, so more than 63Q) is pretty big back there. But then again if you go out with the family for a week, it won't be big enough to indulge in what makes a great trip fantastic... :)
Not to mention that if you are stopped by the local policia in Baja, a few cool ones may save the day -if you don't run out- so bigger may be better sometimes... :D
