No I will move this thread, just keep it going in the JDM section.

Also when or if you rebuild you can start a rebuild(re-roof) thread in the 80 section.

I guess the thread depends on what I end up doing.
Wether I buy another HDJ81 if ICBC gives me enough money.
Or if I have to start patching together different trucks together.
In which case I am thinking:

Re-roof: 80's section.
Body swap: A little 80's and diesel tech mixed. Probably 80 tech.
1HD-T transplant into 80's gasser: All diesel tech :)

Cheers,
Nick

YAh re-roof 80 section..... but if there is any diesel tech it should go in diesel section.... Even a body swap. Cause your gonna get diesel specific questions.

Yah I would do a roof swap over a powertrain swap. Never done a roof swap. But I would invest in a good quality spot weld grinders, Maybe a torch and rent beg borrow buy a mig welder. I like the picture of cruiser guys 55 roof upside down but with still the mid pillar on it...

Vehicle damage is part of 4x4ing, whether the driver is experienced or not.
i disagree. an experienced wheeler will know when to stop before the damage is done but he will also know if the potential damage is acceptable before proceeding.
the roll resulted from inexperience, he now has the experience to know better in the future.
for some people even first hand experience is lost on them. i don't think Nick is one of these...

HEY! :grinpimp: what are you trying to do to CRUISER_GUY (i just met him ) he just drove how many mile in his rig .comes back home to relax .pics up some roofing shingles .overloads his bj drives to Cranbrook .and you take him out for a casual ride and try to squish .em  :D and to top it off squished his canoe . wow . what an adventure . glad too hear no one was hurt .
hope CRUISER_GUY gets to enjoy the rest of his time off .before he's back to
Guatemala.

As Wayne says. It was my fault.
No if's and or buts. I was driving. I did it.
It was such stupid mistake. I was taking it easy, and not horsing around or goofing. Just going out for a nice canoe trip and made a dumb mistake.

But I did learn an many important lesson.
Some truck realated ones are:
1. Be ready. Anything can happen in an instant.
2. If the situtaion every happened again I would know what to do. I could still roll, but I would feel better prepared.
3. How to self right a truck with an electric winch. I am very thankful for my optima batteries and Warn winch. A PTO would not of been any help.

I have been 4 wheeling for 6 years now and have never gotten myself in a rolling situation. I always do my best to avoid them, and until now have done so.

Cheers,
Nick

Think about next truck.
To bad the mega-cruiser is not eligable for import yet. :(
Not that I could afford it anyways. :)

A troopie with a HDJ81 drivetrain seems interesting.
But more time than I have:

I don't know what I am goingt do yet.
I just thought I would share the above 2 trucks.
I really like both. But niether is an option.

A 45 troopie on a 80 chassis would be my dream truck.
drool.......

Still got that white 45 hanging around? (half serious here)

Cheers,
Nick

Ahhhhh.......

Total loss.
ICBC already sent it to the wrecker!
With winch, bumper, tires, guages, etc......

I have already called the wrecker.
They will not touch it.

Now I just gave to get ICBC to return my call.

Cheers,
Nick

I don't have a clue about Canada but in the U.S. you have the right to buy your vehicle back, I'd tell them you have personal property in the vehicle with a value to you of a zillion dollars, tell them to make your vehicle available or you will sue.

I'd be willing to sell ya my BJ60 cheap *if* I don't end up liking it. ;) I'm ready to drop my donor 3B into it now.

what about a 77?

hold on, you never even had a chance to buy it back? did you ask right away for that option?
<makes me think that maybe ICBC really does hate RHD>

Nick what wrecker did it go to? Curious about the parts on it....you have some nice stuff on there.

Wholly crap - buy that back or threaten to sue them - that is your truck until you cash a cheque from the insurance co or sign it away. Make sure the wrecker doesnt start taking parts off. That is bull****.

Hey guys.

Already called the wrecker.
They are not going to touch it.
They were cool.
They said it was going to sit there for 2 weeks until auction.
So he told me to deal with it soon.
No worries, because that is the top of my priority list.

I have already called ICBC.
They now know I am interested in a buy back.
Should meet with them today sometime.
Now I am just waiting on the $$ value.

Cheers,
Nick
