Congrats on the new rig! Wash it regularly in the winter up there. Use fluid film to keep the rust at bay.

I actually undercoated it yesterday lol. I used this berkebile pfc stuff. I need to find a decent auto car wash around me

I will get a price on one for you tomorrow. I also have a parts one that’s a 96 if you need anything else. With the filler neck I priced a Toyota one out about a year ago and it was 450.

Sorry, not sure why the link does not work...
Just do a YouTube search for "gas tank sealing"... and a couple different videos come up. Certainly not a new tank, but just a DIY kind of thing.

i was never an Amazon fan until my wife got me hooked.

Working for a big box retailer, Lowe’s, I freaking hate Amazon. But damn if it isn’t convenient when you know what you need. Ugh.

Yeah I saw that also. I'm not to sure about it since the picture looks nothing like our tanks and the Toyota part number they give for it isn't our tank either. I haven't had much good luck with Amazon lately. It's okay for some stuff but not usually big purchases as far as I've seen

If you click on the BuyAutoParts link on that Amazon page, it will take you to the direct customer service page for that company

Found a used tank on cruiserparts.net for $250 but I've heard they're a pita to deal with any insight on that?

The dealership is giving you a discount at 600. Retail price is 900. I couldn’t get it any better. Sorry :( I would definitely call Cruiser parts. Good luck

Found a Toyota parts website offering free shipping till tomorrow. So far I have the connector pipe, connector pipe gasket, breather tube and connector hose, fuel pump gasket, and the vent tube which from the diagram appears to come with a gasket. Those are all the Toyota part names as they have them listed. Does it seem like I'm missing anything I should get while I'm in there like a new sock or anything? or tank straps?

...I also think this tank should atleast make it through winter so time isn't really an issue of needing to replace but it still needs to be found first

Danger of fuel leaks aside, hit the bathroom!

Grab the bar of soap and rub it over the leaky rusty area, the leaking fuel reacts with chemicals in the soap, it will set not quite like concrete but, it will be enough to stem the leak as it clogs the porous rust.

Regards

Dave

Hate Amazon too... but for those of us who live in the middle of nowhere, it has changed our lives. My closest Home Depot is over an hour away. And most of the time when I go into my local town to buy something, my preferred means of doing business, they tell me, "we can order it for you, be here in about a week or so."

Heck, I can order it from my couch for a cheaper price and it shows up two days later. Same for Walmart.com -- everything from engine oil to dog food.

Still try and buy local, but it has gotten much harder to justify.

Yes. My first post in this thread. Just ask twice about condition, get some pics. They sent me two rusted tanks previously. Sent a return lable for the first and just refunded me for the second after sending pictures. Id pass but know they are localish so may be youre best shot.

Dude you're getting hosed. Unless that came with ancillaries. Toyota MSRP is $587 or something similar. Smart shopper price used to be under 450.
