What year did you recommend the S10 blazer? I haven't taken the tank out of the F250 yet. Based on your information, the F250 is not the most suitable choice. You only have 22 inches or so between the cross members.. mounting below the cross members will sacrifice ground clearance.
Edit:
The point of concern at the rear of the area is not really a "cross member", but rather the dropped squared shape of the body/floor itself that is there to give the required stiffness to the body.
Not the best choice IMHO.
An S10 blazer tank can be picked up almost anywhere for around $100 ($99 from Summit, $62 from amazon) it is a 20 gallon tank. it is only 10.5 inches deep AND at 22x33 for length and breadth it will fit between the cross members so it sits a lot higher. The beveled corner also give you more room to work with for exhaust clearance.

Pretty sure all the S10 blazers used the same tank. I have never come across any difference, either with a tank in hand or when searching online for prices. What year did you recommend the S10 blazer? I just siphoned the fuel out of the F250, but I haven't removed the tank yet. Based on Mark's measurements for the 80, it's best to go with the S10 Blazer tank. I will double check after removing the F250 tank.did those measurements look like they'll work in the space under the cargo area? As long as the measurements are good and the fill is on the left hand side, you should be golden. A search will reveal how folks are using Rivnuts to secure the belly straps to the underside of the cargo area. I dry fitted a Classic Jeep Cherokee one time and that a good fit in that space and a left side fill.
I've also dry fitted a tank from a Classic Cherokee and it looked good during the mockup.I just siphoned the fuel out of the F250, but I haven't removed the tank yet. Based on Mark's measurements for the 80, it's best to go with the S10 Blazer tank. I will double check after removing the F250 tank.

If you search using my name and some keywords, there should be pics of the mockup of XJ tank floating around in this site.I am glad you posted this comment. I had looked at the Cherokee tank before, but lately that had slipped off my radar. From a quick revisiting of the measurements, the Cherokee tank would seem to gain a couple inches at the tightest clearance point (front to back) over the S10 tank. It is about three inches deeper, but with the location of the tank that is probably less of a downside than the upside of the 20 vs 22 front to back dimensions.
Particularly if you happen to be trying to fit a rear winch back there somewhere too.
Although plumbing and fuel transfer is simplified IF you can position the aux tank so that the lowest point is above the lowest point of the main tank. Even at the 10 inch depth of the S10 tank that is a close call. the additional 3 or so of the Cherokee might complicate things a bit.
