Here´s what I have...
I can reproduce ANYTHING out of metal on this car..
I need somebody to step up to this with money, I will not reproduce these parts without money upfront..
I´m sure you fella´s appreciate the time and effort involved in reproducing these parts perfectly
Its up to you.
I am certainly not getting into a competion with Eshan, If he want´s to help out you guys with this, then thats very good of him. I personally require a sizeable order to even think about tooling up for these parts.
Sorry if I am comming across a bit of a dick but I`m trying to be straight up.
Paul

Paul it's not about you being a dick. It's about us getting what we want. This thread is over a year old. There are a lot of 55 owners on MUD and growing everyday. There is a need for these parts. But you know what we want so how about giving us:

What your willing to make first
A lead time on each part (how long we can expect to wait)
minimum quantity to produce said part
and a price

We can worry about shipping later.

parts everyone is looking for from what I can tell.

Front floorboard PS, DS
Rear floorboard I don't think you could split them up so this would be one single piece
Front fenders PS, DS
Bottom Door sills PS, DS
And rear quarter panels PS, DS

Give us minimum quantities your willing to tool up for, a price, how long it's going to take. Then we can do a group buy for each part and if we don't meet your min quantity then you don't make it and we don't get it until we meet that demand.

All this being said. Both you and Eshan have great quality. The ball is in your court to make the part or commit to it. Personally I'm buying from the person who makes the parts first.

Hopefully I am on good terms with Paul at the moment. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help out. I will have a container coming to Colorado from Paul shortly.

Agree totally with Marshall; we/most of us have a need for sheet metal parts; I personally have a need for front fenders, upper and lowers; rockers, rear corners, floor pans, rear corners and have been looking for parts for about one year with only up to now very poor results orparts that are just a bit less rusted than mine; usually ppl. only part a pig when it is beyond hope!; if we have the sheet metal we would buy it............but till now we have not seen any real parts; I know both Paul and Ehsan can turn out quality work and I belive the market is there, I personally just need something tangible before I can take money out of my budget and send;

Lou <rustbucket> 78 pig but with a greta drive train :)

WE have started making the fender patch as you may have seen in the Fender Patch thread
Ehsan

Ehsan, do you have complete fenders?, I have no fenders at all!....need something to put the patches on :)

Lou

I am making a template for Ehsan for the rear floorboard. I should finish it up tonight and get it into the mail soon. I think there are others doing the same, so he'll have a few to compare. It's taken me a while to get to this, so sorry for the delay.

Thank you for the effort. In fact, I could not find anyone else who would do the same. If anyone is willing to help with the floorboard paper pattern, it would be very helpful. email me at ehsankiani@yahoo.com for details on what we need.
Ehsan

Ehsan, I will need floorboards also; both drivers and passengers side along with the rear passengers floorboard!

Lou

Template

OK boys, I finished the template for the rear floorboards. Here are some pics of what I did.

rearfloorboardtemplate4.jpg

There is a bend in the floorboard where the line is in this pic. It's on the other side too. I estimated the bend to be about 3-5 degrees, but don't have any way to measure it. Can someone take a look at theirs and see if they agree or can measure it somehow?
rearfloorboardtemplate2.jpg

Here is the bend...it goes right through the fist set of raised humps. This shows the angle pretty well:

These are pics of the "humps" and brackets underneath. Ehsan, you will need to see pics of these since there are holes in the floorboards for mounting the seatbelts. There are 2 brackets, one larger and one smaller. I marked their location on the template.

Humps:

Ehsan, as soon as I have some confirmation back from folks on these questions, I'll get this into the post to you ASAP.

Heather at first I thought maybe your vehicle was bent. Because I thought why would Toyota put a bend there. But just walked out with a flat edge and a tape measure. I concur on your measurements and there is a bend. Wierd. I wouldn't have believed it unless I'd seen it myself.

Okay. I got out the angle finder, heres what I got.

Starting at the door sill to get a zero mark of +1 degree fore and aft.
doorsillangle.jpg

Moving inward to the outer side of the first set of bead rolls I got +7degrees
firstbeadoutside7deg.jpg

Further in to the inner side of the first set of bead rolls I got +8degrees
firstbeadinside8deg.jpg

Keep going in, to outer side of second set of bead rolls, still at +8degrees.
2ndbeadoutside8deg.jpg

Keep going to inner side of second set of bead rolls, again +8degrees.
thirdbeadoutside9deg.jpg

Moving towards the front of the truck to get the deflection angle from above the bend. +1degree
betweenseatposts0deg.jpg

Back down to the outer side of the third and innermost set of bead rolls I got +9degrees.
thirdbeadoutside9deg.jpg

To the center line of the lowest part of the floor pan, +8degrees.
centerlinefloor8deg.jpg

Back down the centerline for the rear seat platform angle, -32degrees
rearseatplatform-32deg.jpg

Forward to the rear heater platform. +30degrees.
centerlineround30deg.jpg

Now, Checking left to right angle for a zero measurement, +1 degree
centerhumpltor2deg.jpg

Off the rear heater platform, angle is -1 degree

And next to the seat pedestal I show - 2degrees

Hope that helps

I think that helps A LOT! I underestimated the bend, I see. I don't have one of those fancy ACE angle finder thingy-majingies, but I was going to whip out some fancy algebra to calculate those measurements. I am glad you beat me to it, cause I am sure it would have taken way to long to cyper all that stuff. Thanks!

Ehsan, will this phots of the angles plus my template be enough for you?

Ehsan...........mine are worse than these; much worse; need both front and rear floor boards in addition to the entire fenders, both uppers and lowers, both sides!!

Lou

Hello there
Thank you for the pattern. That is very impressive. Can you add more measurements to the piece. Like whole width and lengths at different points.
Thanks
Ehsan

So I was standing outside looking at the floorboard and I thought that I could make a mold of the floorboard. So I bought paper mache tonight and mixed up a batch....

I'll let it dry and see what I get in the morning. If it works, I should have a good template for the floorboards.

I just noticed something....I took measurements off the 78, which has the rear heater platform dead center. Both Heather's and K9s appear to have the rear heater offset to the drivers side, and has two triangular tabs on the passenger side that the 78 does not have. This might make my measurements inaccurate.

ps fancy angle finder thingy I got for $13.00 at a local hardware store.

Uh oh...we've got 2 floorboards going here. I'll bet the angles are the same, but I'll check them. My Dad runs an ACE Hardware, so I'll have him pick me up one and I'll do the same. Unless someone else has an older truck and wants to volunteer.

P.S. K9=Heather. The big guy in the pic is my brother Dan. He has more cruiser knowledge than I do, but I am better at the body work. So we make a good team!

P.P.S. I am happy to help! But thanks for the comments!
