Still in Brazil for a couple more days. My wife and I take a five mile walk every morning and that’s when I came across this beauty. 1976 with power drum brakes. Also has GM power steering adapted. These Bandeirante’s got a 3784cc Mercedes diesel up until the early 90’s when they switched to a Toyota diesel. This unit is longer than an FJ40. Maybe it’s on the 43 platform? The owner wanted $14k and claimed that it would survive the drive up to Washington State. Haha…

For the record, I had some stick on heat reflective pads left so I decided to use it and covered more of the paint on ceramic heat reflective coating. Between these products and the extra thick mass backing on the ACC carpet kit that will be installed I suspect there will be no heat intrusion through the floor. Pics or it didn’t happen right?

All the way to the rocker panel under the passenger side.

Ceramic coating only under the drivers side. I ran out of stick on reflective pads. Heat intrusion isn’t so much an issue on the drivers side anyway. Based on reviews, the Second Skin brand “Firewall” ceramic coating is quite effective on its own. Using the stick on reflective pads is not suggested but I did it anyway.

Today I’m also finishing up the installation of the OEM body mounts that I installed on the 93 a couple years ago. That is tall is documented a few pages back.

Thanks Patrick. Garage weather is here for a few months so the progress will speed up a bit. This 80 was not necessarily abused but it was neglected for years. The cleaning alone outside as well inside has been time consuming and it’s not done yet. I’ll get there one day and that day will be rewarding.

So basically you won’t be putting heat contol materials under yours because you recently installed a new engine….. LOL

Shhhh…. Right now I’m fitting the front frame and track bar bracket reinforcement kit from Delta. The plate that goes on the inside of the frame does not fit correctly. I contacted Dave at Delta and he said I’m the second person to have this issue and asked for the VIN of my 80. I could cut it to fit but I’d like to see what they come up with.
