Great idea, can't wait to see the finished product. I've got a big famiy, and I was always looking for extra places for storage in my 4Runner...I'm sure it will be the same in the new (to me) Cruiser.

I assume you are looking to sell these when your template is done? How much will your price be?

Can't help you with a mock rig from Colorado, but I am confident you will finde one and complete the project!

Saved on my to do list. Will stay tuned. :D

I just realized I've been breaking my own rule, threads without pics are useless.
So some pics of the 100 lid:

Guys,
We need a donor 100 up in the NY area. Anyone out there? Loud? Anyone? Bueller?
Still nothing promising. If it's something local we don't even really need a donor, just someone willing to "play shop". I have the crunched tailgate here from Dan that I would just bolt up for starters.
The lid is built, works fine, but I need to check how it interfaces with the weatherstrip and specifically, the set plate.
We don't have many cruiser folks up this way, especially not the adventurous kind. :p

Yup, they will fall in with the other WagonGear products, at this point I think the price should be almost the same as the 80 lids, they are almost the same size, I'll have to see how many frames will come out of a sheet and if any changes have to be made for the set plate, but so far they are almost the same.

If no one back east steps up, you can always "Go west!"
Eventually!

 Great job!

By go west, I should have said, send it to me. I'll "Play Shop" and I've got experience installing them before. ;)

Kevin, how long would you need a donor 100, and what exactly would be involved?
For starters I would really only need a long afternoon, just enough to play around a bit, remove the tailgate, put the test one in place, play with the set plate and see if there are any other problems.
The "problems" portion of that could end up taking longer. :p

Yeah, but you're not picky enough, you never did get those new latches from me. :D
You are pretty close to Dan, no? Between the two of you we might be able to figure out any problems.
Ideally I want to play with the set plate first hand, basically there are no provisions for the set plate since I don't have one to play with. I'm kinda thinking that it will stay that way and the plate will just bump over the hardware and edges.

looks great, needs a couple beer holder cutouts ;)

EXCUSE ME?!?!??! :flipoff2:
You want more cup holders, I don't do cup holders. :D

In all seriousness, I do want to be clear that;
WagonGear makes parts for trucks.
If your 100 is a truck and you treat it as such, step right up. If it's a :princess:-mobile, move along. :grinpimp:
No cup-holders, no carpet, no little spring bar to help you lift your tailgate, just a big metal plate and a utility lid to access a cavern where it looks like there is plenty enough room to foam pack your assembled Mossberg or a bunch of other tools.

Yeah, I'm real close to Dan and your right, he is pickier than I am.

Problem with mine is, can't see the inside when it's closed and I don't have the plastic trim flap that covers the gap when open. I Wouldnt mind a flat sheet cut to size though, I could test weather strip fitment and holes... ;)

The lid looks good Kevin! Couple questions: Will we have to remove the torsion springs? Will this lid still function with the gap/trim plate in place? And any thoughts on a padded lid for those of us that kneel on it while getting stuff out of the back, etc. (yeah I'm old enough to need it :flipoff2:)?

Hey Spress!
I want to keep the "set plate", but that is what needs to be tested, I have no idea how it is going to interact with the new parts.
As for the spring;
.......No cup-holders, no carpet, no little spring bar to help you lift your tailgate..........
:grinpimp:
I've looked at the padding options, but I've not found anything that I would be willing to use. Other guys just keep a small pad in the back to set on there as needed.

Still no 100s have stopped by my house.
I had the prototype powder coated for the fun of it:

f I send you my lower tailgate, will you send the one you had back to me:D lol jk, but awesome craftsmanship!

I'm using seadek (SeaDek Marine Products) on top of my removable drawers in the 40. You could also use this on your tailgate. Expensive, but very durable and reasonably comfortable. You can buy sheets and cut to fit.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm.
Freakin awesome!
I've never seen that, looking into it now.
It's not a structural material though right? Would be an add on.
I'll find out more.
Most times when folks present a material it either wouldn't work at all or is something I've already tried.
Thanks for something new!

you need a 100 in CO? where are you located? i am in durango and may be able to help...
If you want to drive to NY, sure. :D

Kevin/WagonGear is in the Rochester, NY, area. Kevin needs a local 100 *cough* loud *cough*.
Bingo.
I don't even want to cut anybodies truck up (yet) just want to bolt this tailgate in.
Hundred owners round here are boring.
KR

Not structural. They'll probably send you a sample - they sent one to me a few years back. My dogs have spent plenty of time on this and it's held up.
