Do they make one of these for the 100 series?

If yes, does anyone have one and where did you get it and can you post pictures? Thanks.

I'm digging his new side window project more than the rear tailgate storage. I wish he would make something like that for the 100. Easy access to the cargo area when you have a rear bumper with swing-outs!

I would buy dual storage boxes and swing up windows today. That would sweet. Even sliding windows with screens in the back would be so much better than what we have today.

The 200 series has storage boxes in the tailgate.

It says in the works for a 100 series tailgate lid. I want the better locks and the grip surface as well.

I emailed him on the 100 series tgl (tail gate lids) and fusw (flip up side windows).

yeah, it also has other nice bells and whistles that our 100s don't have, like 3rd row seats that lock into the sides instead of having those stupid straps, and it's also got a center console fridge.

i wish they also made some sort of replacement side panels with actual storage bins. would make it so much easier to carry simple things like emergency items.

kinda off topic, but has to do with rear storage bins, i was looking at my 3rd row seats one day and contemplated the idea of taking the mounting brackets off of one and fabbing up a simple boxed in drawer. it would be kinda like having half of a rear cargo drawer setup, but the ability to mount just one side and put a seat opposite. if it was done right, should be able to flip up and store vertically like the seats do. and if you get really creative, you could even make it into a seat again, it wouldn't be comfortable since it would hardly have any padding in it to maximize storage space, but it would get the job done. just a thought.

FYI: I sent Kevin my old lower 100 gate to use for mock up purposes a year ago. Like most things 'squeaky parts get the grease'; barrage him with e-mails and I bet he moves it from the back-burner to the front ;)

I received an email back from Kevin. Please everyone ping him on the tailgate storage and flip up windows.

He says in his email he plans to have the tailgate storage ready to go for the summer.

His email is wagongear@gmail.com

Thanks.

Email from Kevin. He is closer than you think.

Hello Roane,
Thanks for the interest, I have a little folder here with emails from the 100 folks about tailgates, I'll drop yours in there and let you guys know when I have something to show.
Actually getting very close now, I've had a 100 tailgate here for about a year now donated by a friend on Mud (he's first in line :-b) and I've been slowly working away at it.
I should only be one or two test panels away from making the first full version, plan to have them going for the summer, just been a very busy year.

As for the windows, there is a bit more of a trickle down for those, still have to really get the 60 ones where I want them and then template out the 80s and 100s, both of which require me getting my hands on the actual vehicles for an extended period of time.
Thanks for letting me know about the 100 stuff, my world is the 60s so I don't get to see many of the other series (don't get to see hardly any cruisers up here in the rust belt)
Where are you located?
We are planning a move to ID or OR in 2011, might get us a little close to our friends in the cruiser crowd.
cheers,
KR

My gear bag that stays in the LC will be emptied into this tailgate storage box. Tow straps, gloves, boots and shackles. I can not wait. I am always having to move that gear bag around.

I know who donated his tailgate! I think i'm up on the list for the storage I emailed him last May.

lol, i was wondering who was going to be the tard that pointed out the obvious. Thanks Trunk, you never fail! :flipoff2:

ya I didnt think they were worth much considering the 100s tailgate design but after looking into it more you can definitely fit a good amount of stuff in there.

Maybe Kevin will figure out a way but his first concerns were whether or not "we'd" be able to live without: The torsion bar that aids in lift assist of the gate as it occupies space within the tailgate; and the plastic 'bridge' that bridges the gap between the body and the tailgate. 60's and 80's have neither issue ;)

Don't know that either is a deal breaker but I do like the plastic bridge as it saves me from having to pick up all sorts of crap I would otherwise drop through the crack

I havent had that plastic bridge, or the carpeting for that matter on my tailgate for the last 15 months. The bridge should still work with the compartment though, i doubt it'd get hung up on anything.

Boy, you sure got me.

Spress, I don't see either interfering. Last time I had the carpet off IIRC the assist spring hugged the lower edge pretty close. And for the gap cover, at worst you'd have to flip it up to open the box. I'd be more worried about crap clanking around in there. Squeaks and rattles make me crazy.
