So I noticed while trying to decipher why my rear seat in my 73’ was sitting metal to metal that I was missing a few things on the seat bottom.
The two seat rubber bumpers / cones were completely missing and while looking at what was missing I saw the D ring on others seats. Mine was also missing. I contacted @Pigeaten and he was super generous and got one out to me. Along with a single seat back bracket. After plating I went to install and when I sat the seat down the metal D ring hits first on the bottom of the truck.
Can anyone confirm if theirs swivels or is it welded fixed. Logic would say flapping around loose under the seat would rattle on the floor. So welded makes sense.

So this is what a South American 73’ looks like under the rear seat. No catch well or provisions what so ever for this mechanism. The seat pan does have the holes and reinforcement plate for the latch loop.

What years are your trucks?
I have a 77. I thought all USA models (not sure of SA) had a bucket on the floorboard with a catch (and cable w latch as Pigeaten said) for the back seat with the D ring to catch on/in, If you don't have the bucket, the D ring is useless. ? My D ring bolts on, but catches w the bucket mechanism and releases w the latch. Or did SA refurbish eliminate the bucket for some reason?

There is no evidence the refurb done to my truck shows that the bucket has been eliminated and there is not mounting provisions for the release handle on the rear wheel well.
I think the proper method of sorting this detail is for someone with a 73’ to state wether it’s in there on there US Spec truck and that will tell if the “other” country spec trucks just didn’t require this option.
This could be a safety requirement of some sort imposed by US.

It actually claims
“Not applicable”
I see that now. I guess the General Countries models didn't have a lock to prevent the seat from flipping up. I don't think it's an issue normally.

Mobile version lacks details…
I can’t see it and don’t own a desk top anylonger.
Turn your phone sideways and it will show the sig line. At least an iPhone does.

Buy a laptop; so much more useful.

That landscape trick works on Android too. FYI

Def never had the well installed on my truck. It’s very evident it’s factory uncut metal.
From what I have researched on the parts list it appears non USA spec trucks had the options of a split rear seat. 1/3 -2/3 style that allow for passengers to enter the THIRD ROW seating that was either another bench or a set of jump seats similar to the 40 model. The well being there would be an issue for traveling through and latching of the split.
I’m calling this mystery solved… USA got the latch well and NON USA got the way cooler options!!!
