Success. Thanks! I installed a 158 bulb and it's plenty bright for my rural area. I cleaned and lightly greased the sliding surfaces inside, too.

Don't hate me right off for paying..............$5.00..............for this radio at an old electronics parts shop a few months ago. I knew what it was the moment I saw it. It even came with one original knob pair (seen in the last photo). I had a nice set of period-correct knobs for it that are now installed. I plan to remove the newfangled AM/FM FJ60 radio from my '78 FJ40 and install this AM radio in its place.

Finished up and sent home. Found a suitable replacement for this little guy, 4mm bulb with a plastic standoff. Sorry about crappy cell phone picture.

I’m assuming what you guys are doing here to service the Toyota community is awesome but honestly, you may as well be speaking Mandarin Chinese... 🤣
 
The 60 radio would be the same.
