Hi everyone,

I am getting ready to replace my radiator on 2k LC and I was hoping if someone could share a how to. I have searched the form and tube but could not find anything on the subject. I appreciate your help and opportunity to save myself some time.

It is prtty easy. Two bolts on each side, two coolant hoses, tranny hoses, fan shroud.

Are they the two bolts on the top of each side? I assume you take the 4 off along with fan shroud and it will slide right out.

Thank you!

Mine (1999)... had four bolts, two on each side and two at the bottom. There are rubber isolators that the bolts go through, you will see them.

The shroud can be detached from the radiator and left in place if you like, there is room to lift the radiator straight up from behind it

Also, remove your battery and battery tray just to make it easier to put the new back in.
Be careful with the a/c line so you don't get it caught with the radiator.

Thanks guys just finished up the swap. Good thing because the nipple broke off the reserve hose. It took me longer than I liked but I wanted to make sure I didn't snag it on anything on the way out. Thankfully, I had enough sense to pick up the heater t-hose because those thing fell a part during the install.

Now I can rest easy on our road trip to Rocky point Mexico.

Thanks again!

Wrote earlier...

This is what I did with my 1998 100-Series Cruiser yesterday...

1. remove overflow tank, skid plate and transmission cooler lines (plug those as you take them off)
2. unbolt fan shroud and push back from rad (no need to remove fan or shroud from vehicle)
3. some lines and cables are supported by rad or shroud and the supports need to be unbolted
4. remove the 8 bolts holding the CORE in place (2 x 12mm in each corner of the core)
5. loosen but do not remove the rubber mounting brackets at the top and the midpoint L-brackets by backing off the bracket-holding bolts on the FRONT side of the firewall (this loosens the side rails and allows them to flex a bit)
6. slide the radiator core up and out of the truck. reverse the process to install new core

This is a bit easier than removing the fan and side rails with the rad core IMO. Haven't seen the FSM procedure but I understand it's quite a bit more work. I used a floor jack to get the rad moving then rigged an overhead rope to pull it up or hold in place as I worked it out.
