I have asked in the past about disk brake conversions. Well, it is time to actually order the parts and convert. I have a few more quick questions before i hit the order button.

1. What do you think about tsmmfg.com? Do they make a decent kit?
2. Do i really need longer studs?
3. What should i do about my old proportioning valve? Remove it and add a new one? Leave it and add a new one? Something else?
4. Should i put the line-lock to the front brakes or rear?
5. What is a good line-lock to buy?
6. Should i get Braided Stainless hose 8" -OR- 14" and 44" Stainless hoses to the tee

thanks guys

I thought the ebrake was impossible to get around without alot of fabricating? How are you planning on doing this?

A line lock is basically an in-line solenoid that maintains pressure to the brakes. Hit the brakes, flip on the line lock, brakes stay locked. Not exactly legal in some areas though.

Line locks are a substitute for holding your foot on the brake, that's all. They are NOT an e-brake. They can't be used to stop a rolling truck, and if you have any malfunction in your hydraulics (such as a busted brake line), they don't work at all. They require power to keep them engaged, so you can't use them to hold your truck for long, it'll kill your battery, then they'll release and no more parking brake.

Line locks are great on the trail for temporarily holding your rig, and drag racers use them a lot for launching off the line. But get a real e-brake.

That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.

I am with you 100%. What did TLCA decide on that?

You really need a mechanical e brake. It can be done and is done by a bunch of people. Search POR for info as i have no first hand experience.

I have a an e brake and 4 wheel disks:-) The e brake works great and will hold my big ass wagon with 37's and a load on a hill no problem. i just bought theb eldo calipers and then went to the junk yard and bought the e brake cable off a eldo. I then spliced the existing ebrake cable on my truck with the elso lines and done....it was quick and easy and no problems:-)

okay so back to the questions i asked... hehe sorry guys i already made up my mind that im going with a line lock.

can anyone answer any of the questions i asked? please help. i would really like to buy this stuff today or at least by tomorrow

1. What do you think about tsmmfg.com? Do they make a decent kit?
Haven't used them.
2. Do i really need longer studs?
I didn't use longer studs, as the drum thickness was more thne the rotor.
3. What should i do about my old proportioning valve? Remove it and add a new one? Leave it and add a new one? Something else?
I removed the Toyota valve and added a Wildwood adjustable.
4. Should i put the line-lock to the front brakes or rear?
I use the line lock on the rear.
5. What is a good line-lock to buy?
Again, I use Wildwood.
6. Should i get Braided Stainless hose 8" -OR- 14" and 44" Stainless hoses to the tee
I used stainless lines all the way to the tee. One side was about 40" , the other about 12"
