So in the next couple of weeks I am going to be finally getting my suspension installed and doing 4.88's w/ 300M axles.

Thanks to this amazing forum I was able to find lists for all the bearings and seals I will need to re build the axles and knuckles. (Parts list below in case I'm ordering doubles).

It appears that Nitro gears are the way to go, if there is a better option please let me know. Nitro has a 4.88 full kit for $1,299, is ordering the full kit the best way to go? Or should I be ordering the gears and doing OEM parts for the re gear? I have never done a re gear before so I need some advice, I am trying to keep everything as OEM as possible. Are there any parts needed in the Nitro kit that are specific so that you couldn't order OEM? @Onur thank you for the part number earlier!

Are you planning to do the re-gear yourself? I ask because that will likely determine the parts you need to order. Setting up gears is not something I’d recommend for the ambitious amateur.

No an extremely capable 80 specialist will be doing it. I was just told to bring my own parts.

Based on more mud research. If i do get the full Nitro install kit, then I should get an OEM pinion seal and will need to order oem elocker shims separately?

I did precisely what you did, just bought the Nitro gear set for my Cruiser under a group buy here on 'Mud and dropped off the box of goodies to a local guy who was familiar with Cruisers and owns his own drive line shop. I do have factory e-lockers and I seem to think the kit was specifically for e-locked diffs. It was a number of years ago now, so my recollection is a bit fuzzy, but I didn't buy any additional parts so unless he had them on hand in his shop he didn't need anything.

I had other work done while it was there, the guy rebuilt the knuckles for me with all new seals, he did call to suggest that I do that, but that was about it. The 4.88's kept the motor in the torque curve with the truck on 35" tires nicely, it drives really well. The only other thing I did afterward, aside from fitting 35's, was installing a yellow box speedo correction which was plug and play, worked flawlessly.

An OEM pinion nut is recommended by some here in MUD as well. I’m considering the same for my gears.
