My outer vent assemblies on my quarter panels are looking a little sad as the chrome is peeling off the plastic.

Has anyone found any way to make these look better?
I don't think chrome shops can plate plastic, can they?
And then you would lose the painted portion.

Help!

I am open to input! Or if anyone has a nice set for sale, let me know.

TIA,

lose the chrome & rattle-can them...

Mine looked just like your do. I peeled the rest of the chrome off and painted them black. Matches the rest of the trim and grill. Anything looks better then peeling chrome.

I found a used set on my old '73, I wonder how they'd look if you sanded them down and painted them with that chrome paint? Might be worth a shot before you drop $240 ...

You mean you have an extra set for sale?
How much are you looking to get for them?

i vote to paint them also. chrome is for jeeps.

of course you could rattle can them with chrome paint. i could bring you a can if you were going to the rally, but you don't love us;)

i really like that rusoleum hammered,,, wonder what that would look like on the side vents.?

Pablo,

Pulled up your old post on these rear vents. My 71 doesn't have them, but I have a like new set of grills and was wondering how they worked?

Is there some type of controled block off flap or just an open hole?

There is a rubber connector that goes from these exterior vents to the interior panels where there is a smaller, interior vent. I believe when you are going down the road there is a small negative pressure created by these vents sticking out into the wind and they serve to pull air through the cabin from the front vents.
I can post a picture of the rubber connector and interior vents.
Ige reproduced some of the interior vents a while back.
You have a like new set for your '71? Are you going to graft them into your quarters? They would mount around the rear marker lights.
Let me know if you want to sell them.
