AND...

TJM 2.5" lift kit installed! Finished product about 3.5" taller than before. Lift kit not too bad to install. Instructions on Slee web site spot on. Caster bushing job required some serious effort not to mention a 25 ton press. Not for the faint of heart.

Don't even think about doing caster bushings without these special tools.

Before and After measurements at all 4 corners. Net lift too.

So how do you like your TJM lift?

I've only driven about 10 miles of city streets so far. Better than old stock parts I had. Not harsh. No bouncing or porpoiseing. Feels planted. The new height is exactly what i was hoping for. More to follow.

The lift looks great! Nice level stance and perfectly proportioned with the 285s! Quick question... Which coil #s did you order? Your pre-install spring pictures lead me to believe that this is not the same progressive all around lift that HK33 and TJ96TLC recently installed. Perhaps it is the "heavy" option offered on toytec's website? Or maybe heavy fronts and light (progressive) rears? Thanks!

I ordered the TJM80S KIT from Ben @ TOYtech. See pic for details.

I had some discussion with Ben regarding the front coils which appear to be linear not progressive as stated. I was not the only customer that called regarding the non-progressive front springs. Ben made calls to TJM and was told that TJM is not using progressive spring up front anymore because they caused bouncing. My front springs are labeled 770FR80C and rears are labeled 770RR80C. I drove the cruiser to work today (40 miles) and experienced no bouncing or porpoising. Very nice, firm ride.

A very nice build thread. Your 80 is shaping up nicely. Perhaps your son will see your wise ways and dump his jeep.

Earlier in this thread you were talking about doing the OME kit and you chose the TJM lift instead. What made you change your mind? I am starting to lean TJM myself.

Price, progressive springs, rubber caster bushings, warranty.

Depending on where you shop the TJM kit is about $100 less than OME.

Although only progressive in the rear (not F&R as advertised. See previous comments.) I LOVE the ride. Firm but not harsh. Not bouncy. Ride height is exactly where I wanted it.

I did not want the potentially harsh or squeaky poly caster bushings. TJM is the only manufacturer I've found that offers rubber caster bushings.

Warranty is better on TJM than others. i.e. Shocks.

I also wanted Aussie parts. ;)

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question jdeitch. TJM is only a half hour down the road from me so I will probably be making a trip up there next week.

Cool deal. Let me know if they have any "TJM equipped" stickers. I wanted 2 for the L&R side of my rig. ;) I'm going the April 15th Pomona swap meet. Maybe I'll stop by their place.

I used same engine oil, engine sounds better with it.

Went on our first 4x4 adventure this weekend. Had a great time. Land Cruiser performed flawlessly. Very happy with new tires and TMJ lift kit.

Looks like it is really coming together. How are you liking your tires? Your TJM kit looks a lot like my Iron Man kit.

Looks like a fun trip jdeitch! What kind of weight (if any) were you carrying in the rear?

LOVE the tires. Quiet and smooth on the road. Plenty of grip on rocks/gravel/sand/mud. All around great tire. Highly recommend. Cheap and warranty through Discount Tire too.

Goodies from OZ. The TJM steering damper and snorkel arrived today! Huge TJM catalog and some cool stickers I asked for too.

Snorkel installed. Took about 3 hours. Good install instructions and excellent/necessary drilling template. I HIGHLY recommend removing cruise control unit and power antenna. The assistance of someone with small arms/hands is most helpful too.
