Stopped by the body shop for a few hours yesterday and installed the jail bars and B pillar cover before paint. I found that they had Rhinolined the floors (something I wasn't expecting) and painted the bottom side with chassis sealer. They're going to sand smooth, prime and paint over the Rhinoline at the rear wheel wells, sides in front of the doors, and the curved braces from the B pillar to the seat frame.

Thank you. They tell me a few more weeks and it'll be ready for paint.

I wonder if the cover pieces that you have made may have been used to cover up holes left from semaphores?

You might be right, although I've never seen semaphores in this place on a Land Cruiser they would be highly visible there. I'm not sure what they were but they don't seem to be on the FJ35 at the 1960 Tokyo Motor Show. After this picture surfaced I realized that the first two FJ35 pictures that we know of were probably taken during the earliest weeks of production. On these two pics taken outside there is no rear view or driver side mirrors, and no rear reflectors. I had always assumed the reflectors were added on the 45LV but I'll bet it's just that this 35 wasn't complete when these pictures were taken. I may not have gotten these covers exactly like the originals (I've looked at them under a micro scope), but even the originals look a little odd to me. I wanted to add them because they're unique and gave me easy access to the seatbelt mount.

And can I just say that the LV is such a Badass Land Cruiser. Thank you again Eric C. for giving me this opportunity to restore one and be driving one again.

Gene, any updates on the resto? As @KT40 would say...."more pictures please."

I stopped by the shop today. The body is sitting on the frame while waiting on parts for mounting it. There's a new heavy coat of primer on it and block sanding is next followed by more detailing more primer and more block sanding. Then we'll be closer to paint. These guys are obviously busy working on other vehicles as well but what they've done so far is nothing short of amazing.

hey, Gene ... check out our progress on Chef’s 45 LWB pickup: Builds - Chef's FJ45LWB-PU

Great work Steve! It's all in the details and that thing looks beautiful.

I’m sorry I just missed meeting you! Cesar said I came by only a few minutes after you’d left.

That's too bad. It would have been cool to meet you and talks Cruisers.

I really appreciate the amazing work these guys have done when I look back on the day I rolled the LV into the shop. Removing the body from the chassis was done with a Sawzall because of the rust and a ton of work was done beneath the floors as well.

I don't believe the photos match the actual colors. The middle color is more green.
