Background: 1977 2F desmogged with a Webber 38/38 (all PO work)

My goal is to go back to all OEM Aisin. I’m been searching and haven’t found much guidance on going back to OEM (feel free to link me as my search-foo isn’t the greatest).

I have a 1977 Carb on the shelf, but it needs a rebuild and I understand that could take a while if I farm it out which I plan to do. I also have the mechanical linkage and skinny pedal from a ‘77. and a stock restored air cleaner from a 77 ready to go.

In the meantime, I have a late 2F ‘85ish vintage carb on its way to me. So my plan is to use the later 2F carb for now. (someone stop me if this is a mistake)

What else do I need to complete the project? (carb insulator? Or any spacers? Missing connections/hoses/brackets/adapters/ etc I need to use going back to Aisin) I will stay desmogged. I want everything on hand before I start to minimize downtime.

I have no carb experience, so this is all new ground for me. Can someone give a newb some guidance on how to make this happen? All help is appreciated and I can take pics if that is helpful.

No one knows how to go from a Webber to Aisin? this should be fun....or is it just a one banana job and I can just jump in?

honestly, so long as you have everything and the ball ends on you linkage pieces are good along with the female sides of the brackets it shouldn't go bad.

I want to give a big shout out to @GA Architect Rick volunteered to send me his spare Trollhole carb to use until my Aisin is rebuilt. For nothing more than the cost of shipping. My wife couldn't believe it. I told her that this is what MUD is all about - members helping members. I've said it before - this is by FAR the most supportive, kick-ass group of gear heads I have ever come across. Glad to be part of the clan.

When I swapped from a Holley to a Trollhole carb on my '76 I referred to the part diagram pages on SOR for the breakdown of everything I needed. Assuming the swap is similar to that, you will need a carb spacer, the thin manifold to spacer and spacer to carb gaskets. Possibly new carb studs.

I was able to source the spacer and all the carb linkage here on MUD along with a few small parts still available from Toyota. Once you have the parts the install is a one banana job. Good luck.
