Cause I wanted a better departure angle and the easily tuned suspension.

This rig is not going to be a off road king. But my daily driver and family hauler. It is going to have a nice paint job and not get hammered. I already have a rock rig. What I needed was a good camping play rig.

Bout the toughest trail this truck will see will be the con.

I don't want or need massive amounts of articulation. I need a good handling stable rig :)

No F'n way am I going to cut holes in the body to run the shocks through. It needs to be sealed on the inside from weather. Plus, it makes it harder for the AC to work ;)

< But my daily driver and family hauler >

Did you change your mind in the middle of the build from "hardcore" to mall crawler? ;p
No problem adding covered caps to the top of the shock towers thru the bed, that's what I did.
Nice job on the sheetmetalwork at the bobbed area. I'm having a he!! of a time trying to get my rear lined up - gonna hafta cut out what I did & redo where my bobbed area meets

It was always designed as a mall crawler :D

The little bed I have is gonna hold the fuel tank..

And thanks on the Bob job, but I didn't do it. Thank God. I hate sheet metal work..

Chicago, odd world my girl just got back from there.

HA HA!
We met a bunch of folks from Florida there...
Isnt the climate pretty much the same?

Chicago

Didn't do anything to the 60 last weekend. I was too busy filling the 40's tires up with water :D

I'll be breaking my front axle this weekend on the 40 :)

Glady always has good posts. along with a smashing avatar ;)

Very stout. I have not gotten to abuse them yet. But I will let you know when I do..

Went out wheelin so I did not get anythign done the past two weekends.

But I did get the fuel cell mocked up and the fule lines ran.

Pics in a sec.

Got the fuel tank mocked up. It is a bit over 25 galls and goes from the inside of the bed through a hole to the underside of the truck.

4" into the bed of the truck,

9" below the bed of the truck.

With allowances for a muffler system or underbed air tank on the other side.

The stock filler turned around worked perfectly.. A bit of 2" hose and 2" AL tubing and away we go..

You can also see the dimensions of the tank and the hoe that was removed form the bed of the truck.

I also got the 3/8" fuel, return and brake lines set. I REALLY didn't want to do this with the motor in the truck, and I was right not to. It would have been a serious PITA...

BTW, anyone happen to know the best grime cutter for the firewall??
