We bought our 2010 4runner TE with 89k on the clock in 2013 or 14 and it is now at 17853x... with a trans fluid swap and diffs/ tcase change, water pump, serp belt and idler pulleys.... oh, and a Toytech suspension at 175K... mileage is just a number with these trucks. They are built to go the distance.
Oh I know. Used prices are just stupid on them and have been. I’m seeing 100k mile ones for mid $30k. New one with same options are 40

Working on a list of carry items for the 4Runner. Besides the obvious stuff I normally carry like my tool kit etc...

1)thermostat
2)alternator or brushes
3)all 3 belts (which I have)
4)upper and lower radiator hoses
5)clamps and zipties
6)fuses and relays

What else can you guys think of, especially vehicle specific that I should carry for emergencies?

I definitely need some sort of air pump until I get a fancy solution figured out.

mahalo!
Alternator would not be in my trail kit...
Steering fluid, gear oil, quart of motor oil, extra nuts and bolts...

My wife is trading in her sienna soon and I’m trying to convince her to get a 4Runner. She’s interested! But man talk about value retention. Selling the FJ helped me get funds and I have a little bit to help her but even I was taken aback by how much the 2017s and 18s are holding value. She gonna have to look a few years back!
try looking at the Lexus GX series.... you might find a nice deal on them still but even their numbers are going up!

We need a Tech Day. I have a SSO Slimeline Winch bumper and winch to install on the 5th Gen T4R. I can't see a way to balance it on a floor jack at the correct angle for mounting so I'm gonna need a second set of hands or risk crushing my skull.

I got a set of forks for the tractor if you can get the 4r and bumper to my house. Maybe strap/hang the bumper under the forks and line it up.

The 4x4labs stuff is well worth the money. Especially when you compare it to the marlin/trail grear bumpers. I just put a 4x4labs on my truck last week :)
But you stole that bumper.
I was looking at a 4 plus rear tire carrier for my 40 until i got to the $1975 cost before shipping

Just had a new windshield installed at window city. Looks great! But now my wipers won’t turn off! I pulled the connection at the motor to drive home.... any suggestions?

They may have not put the arms back on in the correct down/off position, lift them away from the windshield (like you’re going to change them) and turn them on/off

I tried that. It’s weird. Every speed works fine but when I’m the off position it follows whatever intermittent speed I’m set to.

You'll need an extra set of hands and a floor jack, or 2 extra sets of hands. Good thing is its a quick and easy job, just need some helpers. I'll help ya out if you don't want to wait for a tech day.

need to do this too....how did it go? previous owner cross threaded one of the bolts. It's a bear to get out even.
Not bad at all - I used this kit from Amazon - metric thread chaser

Like most things, use plenty of lubricant. (I used WD40, but there are specialty lubes as well). Also, Don't do it all in one pass. Work the chaser in and out to remove any debris.

Maybe the switch went bad then 🤷🏻‍♂️

Changed out the OEM skid plate for a new-to-me RCI skid and changed the oil. The skid alone will save me 20-30 minutes on every oil change.

I took switch apart and put at back together and it works now... I dunno... I really didn’t do anything, but my CHARGE AND BRAKE lights are back on ...lol. The thing is, when I test with a multimeter at battery I get the appropriate rise in voltage? Any guesses on this one?

How old is the battery? If the alt is constantly pushing 14v+ into it, it might be on its way out. Have you cycled the brake fluid sensor? It should turn the light off when pushed up and turn on when down.
Also, check the e-brake switch and make sure the brake lever is closing it.

I don’t think battery is old. When I rev her up the charge/brake lights go away. Definitely an alternator/batter issues, but it’s pushing voltage? There is a 7.5 amp relay for charge... maybe replace?
