Pre-79 tub on 1982 frame?

Has anyone put a 45 tub from the 1970s onto a 45 frame from the 1980's? Wondering if the cab mounts are in the same place. I know the tranny tunnel cover on the pre-1979 is different, and the gas tank is in cab instead of under, but what other interchange issues might there be? The doors, windscreen, fenders, rear upper cab section all would bolt on, yes?

I believe cab mounts are different. That doesn't mean you can't make it work with a little fab work. You can compare the frame dimensions in the FSM's for the corresponding years.

That's a good idea, however both FSM's I have are 1980, so they don't cover the pre-1979 frame details. Have you come across a schematic for the earlier frames by any chance?

Nothing a bit of welding can't solve I guess.

Speaking of 45 frames, i notice one kind of odd thing on the back of my frame - the bump stops for the rear springs. They are riveted and bolted in place. Kind of weird to use both - and for sure it is factory, as the EPC shows the part number for the bolts (see following picture). I wonder why Toyota would do things that way?

Did you check the part number to see if it is a bolt or rivet? If it was a bolt you would think a part number for a nut and lock washer would be there as well or is the framed threaded for the bolt

I did more than check, I ordered the part. You can see the number on the EPC clipping, 91611-40832 - - that subs up to 91611-60832. Clearly a bolt as you can see in the photo below. I also don't think Toyota has frame-related rivets, as such, as parts you can buy.

They include lock washers which makes me think there is a fixed nut these screw into. My guess on why both rivets and nuts is because the way the frame is made they couldn't get to behind the ones that uses bolt to install rivets so nuts were welded in before the frame was assembled.

I thank you for the frame drawing - I took the liberty of flipping it around 180˚, and have attached a schematic of the '79~'84 frame for comparison. comparing the plan views, the front cab mounts are really close in dimension (1190 vs 1188). the spring hanger center lines are identical at 970mm, but I'm wondering, looking at the older frame type drawing, where the extensions on the frame for the rear cab mounts?

That makes sense, but isn't the situation just the same for the spring hangers - which are riveted on sides and bottom?

It looks to me like brackets #51731 on the drawing are the rear cab mountings. That is part number 51705-60011, and they don't seem to be available according to Toyodiy.com.
