Next up is stabbing the tranny and getting some measurements on the driveshafts.
If your H55 was made after a certain date in '85, there are some shoulders that will require that your F/2F bellhousing will need some clearance work.

I am running what I believe to be my original F bellhousing from Jan of '74.
Georg mentioned that they moved the clutch slave cylinder to passenger side in '75.
Maybe this moved as part of the 3FE swap? To clear the exhaust?

I have used the Belmetric and this

These are the guys I got my kit from when I was doing the 40 paint! They don't pop out when you search for JI fasteners on here...


Also, McMaster-Carr has a lot! (Thanks @DoubleNickels )
 
My H55 does have the shoulders that will require grinding on the bell housing to clearance.

At this point I’m thinking about pulling the bell housing out and going helicoil to restore the trans mounting threads.

4-speed/2F flywheel acquired! Much thanks to @Rzeppa of Rising Sun - it was good to see you!

Actually, QTY 2x 4-speed flywheels ended up coming home with me. I took them into the machine shop and we decided the one labeled "78 2F" had better looking teeth for the starter motor to engage, so that is the one I am going with.

the one labeled as from a '78 has a 3 next to a mountain symbol, while the other one has a 2 next to the mountain:
Wonder what that’s all aboot?

And, last fun fact for the day - a clutch disc from a 3-speed clutch fits the 4-speed pressure plate perfectly.
That is an interesting and useful piece of information 👍🏼

That flywheel looks like a great find!
