1991 FJ80 with Triple Gauge Set

When I converted my vehicle to run with a GM 6.2L turbo diesel I needed to add some additional gauges; a pyrometer, turbo boost, and oil temperature. I decided on mounting the VDO gauges in the space between the center console and the lower dash.

It is a little lower than I would prefer, but I wanted a factory appearance. You can tell from the photos that I purchased a salvaged center console from a late model 80 series, and fabricated an extension to meet up with the lower dash.

If you look carefully, you can also see the additional switches for the electric fans. They run automatically off a 2-stage BMW thermostat sensor, but I can also switch them on manually, or cut them off for when I go across deep water.

I am using the OEM glow plug controller from GM, but I have a master switch positioned next to the fuse box. Also, there is the OEM Toyota throttle advance cable installed in the factory position.

Nice gauge install 91Chevota! Turned out nice!

Complete! I just need to find a clean place for a voltage gauge at some point now.

Here is my current setup in an '84 BJ42. Currently wanting to make a roof console and move most up to make room for a radio and replace with a new centre dash....

DirtGypsy and I created this panel in place of the radio which is now in the tuffy console. I need another seat heater for the :princess: to make the pod symmetrical. With green bulb covers they match the factory gauges pretty well.

Does anyone have pics of Auber Instruments displays in an 80 series? Also, what are the 3 blanks along the top of an 80 series dash for?
