It turning out like a pro is putting it together.:) Did I miss what color you will be painting it?

I was going obnox... orange. But the more effort I put into it the nicer its turning out. I'm not sure yet, but thinking of a custom blue/with grey or silver accents. Not 100% yet. I figure I have at least 2 more months of work before being ready to blast and paint. Thanks for the compliment. I started off a hack, now I'm an experianced hack:beer:

I posted some more progress pics up. Mostly at the end of page 4 the rest on page 5. Got the new wheels and tires on, made a battery box, got pics of the rear shackle hanger mounts and approax and departure angles. partial work on the half doors and a few BS pics of the kids with it.

Any ideas whould be great. I plan on working on the seat mounts next weekend. Time to try tube bending.

I'm tired after looking at your build.
Thats a lot of work and looking good.

Sorry again for only posting there, but since a lot of my club guys look there, thats where I've posted. And not having high speed internet makes posting once hard enough!

There are some engine pics on page 7, but most of the stuff on page 8. Hope to see everyone at the Toys on the Rocks Swap Meet and Show and Shine this comming Saturday in Placerville!

I have my rear bumper milled up and have the dash layout completed. I'm having a problem finding a picture of where the original choke cable is on the dash. Does anyone have a picture of what the dash is supposed to look like on a 65 body (the one with three ridges across the top of it?) I'd appreciate any help.

Had another hiccup. Ended up coaching high school football. Holy cow, that eats up more time that the cruiser did. Its back at home and work proceeds. Barring catastrope, it will be at Frolic this year though

getting ready to put my new 2F in and made up my first SST. I didn't like the idea of using the head bolts for the rear engine hooks. So I made up a block that will use the two rear manifold studs. (I will be using bolts for the engine move, don't want to mess my new studs up.) I had a spare front engine hook that I welded to a 3/8" cold rolled bar.

Got a question. I'm using a 83 camaro column. Does anyone know what this rod is for. The other one goes from the ignitions switch

Yet another question. I am using the 1/75 2F intake manifold, but changed my exhaust to one I got from Mark A. Its the tri Y from Downey. That being said, I got a new aircleaner that has the piece that goes down to the exhaust manifold for preheating purposes. I'm thinking about dumping the valve in the air intake and just welding a new piece of sheet metal in its place. Does anyone know of any issues I would cause myself by doing this:confused:

In the second picture, there is a spring and a cotter pin that I found inside the air cleaner rattling around inside. Does it belong somewhere. I didn't see it in the SOR diagram.

I'm also looking for one of the inner gaskets that can be seen in the same picture. Mine only had one good one. The other was torn to shreds. Thanks in advance

Dimmer switch rod?

The HAI tube is supposed to help with cold warmups. Hard to say how well it works - most 40 series Cruisers AFAIK are missing the heat shield that the HAI tube draws warm air from, so it can't be that effective. The only time I could really see it making a difference is in really cold weather to prevent icing issues. Not sure if there's a detriment to just leaving the air cleaner assembly as-is and just leaving the tube open. You might want to check if CA emissions folks would harass you for taking that out.

Ignition switch rod...Different year, but same application.

The spring is a return spring for a 2F carb, the cotter pin is for retaining the rod linkage to the bracket on the carb. You will not need either of those with the cable conversion you bought [so you can give them to me with the choke cable at Rubithon:D]

If you're looking for the oval gasket that seals the air filter to the air cleaner housing, I think I have a couple of those left.

Best

Mark A.

BTW, you should keep that hook to make some kind of award for somebody someday.:hmm:

Mark, they are yours. And I'll take you up on one of those gaskets. My other is in really good shape and the lid gasket is still available. PM me with the $ for that gasket.

I have the ignition rod. But that picture I think answers my question. It looks like I'm missing my dimmer part of the steering column. I would think I could pick that up at Napa.

Thanks for the reply and the pic. It helps alot:beer:
