A couple of the TRE boots on my FJ40 are starting to tear. The TREs look and feel like they're in pretty good shape so I'm thinking of just replacing the boots. Has anyone used the polyurethane replacements??? How did they work out???

Can I guess that you got them from CCOT? I did and they included an extra set of boots???????Well 4 months of garaged time and the boots rotted off. So I replaced them with the "extra" boots. In the mean time I checked into the polys and it seems as though they do not seal as well as the rubber. It is just as big of a PITA to change the boots as it is to change the whole damn tre's, well, almost.
I'd go back with rubber or neoprene.

I have had good luck with Downey's boots, pretty sure they are poly not rubber. Major PITA for a $2 part change, i would just keep greasing the hell out of them until you want to change the TRE's themselves.

The poly boots I've used have lasted MUCH longer than the rubber boots. The rubbers seem to dry rot very quickly. Like a year or less.

Ed, CCOT has never sent me any boots with a purchase, but I have more zip ties and battery hold downs than I could ever possibly use - well, hopefully :)
