Note, replace ''check' with CHEAP on the tittle..

Being a cheapskate can end up costing you a lot of money..

30% of my aquiles tendon got cut, but in theory if willl go back to normal in his own..

I show you the other pictures, but is not my fault if you faint..

Wow! I've heard a few stories of broken wheels and actually saw the damage it inflicted on a friend of mine (professional welder). Get well.

I have been using grinder for about 30 years, I start with the big ones, specifically a ALL metal, black and decker 9'' grinder

Today I have nine 4 1/2, 6 with paddle control and very seldom use the lock out button..

The other three are makita cordless that come only in a 'slide trigger"' but I have never use a cutting wheeek in them ( to weak anyway"

I only know the wheel got stuck on the piece I was cutting and kick back really hard and took it of my hands (obviously I can not go into my shop looking for the strapmill, I'm just glad it did not blow on my pretty face..

So did it blow up in your hand or detonate hear your leg (can see the leg wrap in the pic). Definitely want to see pics of the carnage and is the nurse cute?!

Take care dude!

You know I can not tell, I check for a second and some strand of fiberglass where attach to the piece I was cutting, so I assume it broke right there..

I look on the floor for scraps and besides the one that cut me, nothing, I think it detonate when it touch the floor..

One not so bad picture..

Yeah could have been worse... but definitely glad you are ok.

I was expecting something like this... From the MTBR Rider Down forum, guy titled it "Wife scraped up her shin..."

Wowser, good one..

This was by far my deeepest cut ever, the doctors where amazed my aquiles tendon did not get cut 9i had about 20 'ortho' residents coming to look at it, yes some where very cute...

Oh tip..

I ran from my shop to the room and grab the first thing I saw, ''bday swim diaper" then I use a 1" strap for a lost torniguet, got on Polar Bear and I was at the hospital in about 5 minutes..

The emergency guys where really impressed, funny tourniquets are a No, No this days (yeah if you keep them on for six months, sure)

Of all the tools and equipment, the grinder has been by far the most dangerous.

Get well soon and stay current on your Tetanus booster.

I was just using my grinder the other day without the guard due to trying to get it into a tight place. The whole time I was doing it I was thinking of things like this - both having the wheel explode as well as it just kicking back and hitting me. If I had seen this first, I would probably have not done it.

I got mine bound up once and it kicked back at me- trigger locked; dewalt makes a safer grinder than milwakee. the thing flew back into my leg and bit me just above my knee before I got it free and tossed on the ground. I almost lost half my manhood. 5 staples that day. leathers, gloves, goggles and face shield. don't futz around with a grinder period, I don't care how much the wheel cost. Get Well, kiss the kids and buy a lottery ticket.

guard in place and the whole thing would have gone down like this...(grinder binds and kicks. grinder falls to ground and comes to a stop. man using grinder feels foolish.)

Yeesh! Thanks for sharing your story. Get well soon. I am going to safe up my grinder.

I aggre the guards maybe be a pain in the butt. But they do serve a porpuse..

In any case is not excuse for "intstant desintegration" like it happen this time, you still have half the diameter exposed with the guard on..

This kind of stuff is what scares the hell out of me with students using grinders in the welding classes. You'd be surprised how many times I have to pull the plug out of the socket and yell at them to put on gloves and eye protection. We tell them if they remove a guard, they get sent home for the day.

Has anybody tried these new Lenox MetalMax diamond-coated cutoff wheels? I got a few free samples in the mail the other day from our MSC rep, but I haven't tried them yet. Seems like they'd be a little safer since they have a metal base, not abrasive wheel that can explode.

@Patineto how did it hit you in the back of the foot like that ? Did you drop the grinder while it was running, or did the disk just come apart on its own ?
Microsecond lite elepse...

Sincerely I have no clue, my theory is that it jump when got stock, got scare came of my hands and land on the floor and ar]t least i piece broke of the gringer. The one that cut me..

Ps; I always cut standinging with hand grills, I have been around them for far to many years to see how the tricky bastards they can they be,
