I'm doing a fairly detailed restoration of my BJ60 and wonder if anyone has any tips for restoring the type of dipped cable/hose clamp which has the soft black plastic coating (that inevitably comes off).
Some of the clamps, like for the fuel lines and brake pipes, are still available, but others such as those holding the breather pipes, A/C suction hose, and front axle brake pipes are no longer available.
I've had quite good results dipping them in 2k polyurethane paint, but I'm looking at the Plasti-dip rubberised coating and wonder if anyone has tried this. It's aimed at dipping the handles of tools such as pliers to give a soft, grippy feel in the hand. Is this stuff tough enough to hold a brake pipe?
Thanks
EO
