Any updates on rendezvous time and location?
Yeah, if all goes well, we will be in Afton a day before meet up.
We are willing to meet up early and camp with you guys, give me a date and place..
Are we thinking about Afton on Thursday the 5th or Wednesday the 4th?

To be real, we probably won't make it to Afton until Thursday afternoon. Thinking about stopping on Wed. well before we hit Afton, just a long time driving for me. Maybe get a room wed. night to wash cloths, shower and stuff, then meet up sometime on Thursday.

Jeff/Jake have a preliminary camp site just south of Smoot, WY which is about 7 miles south of Afton. They have the gps coordinates of the beginning of the trail where dispersed campsites are. They are going to check it out this weekend and potentially even park a Land Cruiser there on Thursday at the best and largest campsite. They might even put up a sign that says pig party. Official meetup day/time is Thursday. More to come this weekend when I connect with the trail guides.

From those campsites they said => “ There’s a fun little evening trail you can take down to the Salt River where a section of the road is literally the same as the Lander cutoff of the Oregon Trail. That’s kind of fun.”

Mike and I will be arriving late afternoon or early evening Thursday.

I'm texting with @fj55-100 and he is also willing to meet up as soon as we hear a plan..
So we thinking Afton Thursday late afternoon'ish and finding a camping spot?
I have been meaning to connect with Evan since we will be coming right through STG. We are leaving VERY early to beet some of the heat

yep, my wife wants a shower and bed before PP, we have a place in Afton for Wed. night. looking forward to seeing old friends and new friends

Pig took a shower today and filled her tank. I hoped to begin drive tomorrow but paper work got in the way, so Sunday start for me. Won’t know which way the wind will blow me. Sunday will tell. Some kind of zig zag for fun.

Looking forward to the reunion.

Cheers

Wow, you're moving fast. I'm sure you checked with a mechanical gauge on that oil pressure.
Update:
I don’t think I’m going to make it. We got the oil pressure fixed and I went to do my first real test drive. In my haste, I didn’t make sure the hood was latched properly and it blew open at 60mph. Bent the hood back over the roof, bent the hinges, broke the rear view mirror, messed up the latch and broke my spirit. Maybe next year… 😞

Oh, FFS!🤦🏻‍♂️

So so so Sorry to have that happen to you. We all know all to well how the excitement balloon getting popped can be so disheartening.:frown:

Glad and hope that you personally are not damaged

Will tip a cocktail to you

Aww man that is bad news. Look at the bright side…you are OK plus you have a whole year to get ready for PP26.

Pig Party Adventurers!
With a lot of scouting activity from Jake & Jeff, we have a slightly different set of trails due to snow melt in some of the higher elevations. There will be dirt and some pavement between dirt for this year’s event culminating in a Sunday morning drive through Grand Teton National Park. High level map picture below for a rough idea of where we will be going. We expect 10 rigs and about 16 people. See updated post below.

Thursday
Meet at the campsite location any time during this arrival day. Will be good to greet old friends and meeet new ones. If all goes well, Jake may drop off his caper at the campsite to “reserve” our group spot
GPS coordinates just south of Smoot, WY:

I understand some may be staying in a hotel in Afton this first night before the long weekend.

Friday
Group Breakfast 7:45am = Jake & Jeff will be making us all breakfast burritos!!!
Trail Guide Kick-Off Instructions / driver meeting 8:30am
Start on the Trail 9:00am
Lunch on trail
Dinner at Jazz Burgers in Etna Lake but you can cook you own meal if preferred
After dinner we will have about 1.5 more hours on dirt with some good golden hour scenery going over a mountain pass. We should arrive at the evening campsite during light time to set up camp and talk about Land Cruisers around the fire.

Saturday
Breakfast on you own
About a 4 hour loop on the trail then back to pavement to drive through Jackson. There is a mildly technical trail we will take after Jackson with unique views of the Tetons.
Lunch on trail
Depending on the time we can do some exploring in GTNP or explore Grey’s River from the north with more time on the trail.
Dinner at camp or there is a pizza place with outdoor seating with more views of the Tetons then make way to camp.

Sunday
Break camp, explore more of GTNP, say goodbyes, and head home. Some may even consider driving out the north end of GTNP heading to Yellowstone.

Important Notes:
1. Remember to bring you national park pass!
2. Friday night we are camping along a river so if interested bring your fishing gear
3. GMRS or FRS radios for trail comms
