Turn Signal Guards

Sidestepping the pass. side fender today, I thought about making a pair of turn signal guards. Kind of a simple design, but time consuming cutting, bending & rewelding angled steel. They'll be affixed on the upper fenders.

Bet it was exciting making the two have the same bends and cuts. But you are a professional right you made a jig. Looking good can't wait to see it finished. Gonna be a monster.

Jig  I'm using my calibrated eyeball special measuring tool so I know it's dead on ;p Thanks guys I'll wheel, I mean push her out in the driveway for more pics soon...... Getting there slowly :bounce:

Aside from all the skill it takes to put this together, I'm not sure I have the creativity to do it either.

Can't wait to see this thing on the trail!

Wow this thing is silly serious! Ok, I admit...being from the mall-cruiser crowd I dont understand why the doors have huge holes in them, could you enlighten my asphalt hugging ass? :)

I did check the whole thread, but I only looked at pictures....damn you have some skill/creativity as was said above.

Initailly, I wanted to give them a lightened look w/o going full on tube doors & also show the raised armor @ the door bottoms. Then, I thought I'd need a can holder for the rear doors & could use some extra storage in the base of the front doors :meh:

Are you going to name her?

I'll revise my sig to show it's new name

Thanks all for the thumbs up :D

Hood Latch Bracket Brace

Since I pushed my winch as far rearward into the grill as I could, that meant it was necessary to fab up a brace for the hood latch bracket. The winch motor was in the way of the stock vert. brace. I coulda rebent & added mat'l. to it, but what fun is that :meh: The fender bars tuck nicely behind the front valance, so minor bracket redo on the pass side is all that was needed. Should have the front all assembled later today - paint is drying....

If I check it any more aften then that I'm:bang:....what can I say, I'm too impatient:hillbilly:!

You 've got a really sweet setup. I'm about to tackel the same mod with the coil/link front and soa rear. Any tips on the front? What steering box are you running? A 60/62 box? I'm going to be running my 55 axles with 60 discs on front and a disc kit in rear. I'll probably put some spacers on also. Thoughts??
Very motivating stuff you have.

Thanks dood :D
Steering box is a PSC modded hydro-assist Scout Saginaw version.
You'll need to figure out what type of linked front you wanna go with. 3 link would be the least amount of work. I've done a y-link on my 40 & this :pig: received a true 4 link. I would not do a y-link again (more joint binding), but due to low hanging headers w/ stock width axles, I had no choice to keep the links inside the frame for maximum travel. On the :pig: 4 link, you can see how I fabbed some headers that freed up frame space for the link ends & I'm using a hybrid front axle that's wider than stock. If you 3 link yours, just use the pass side to mount that frame link end. You will need spacers for stock width axles. Knuckle/ coil/ frame clearance will be tight but doable. One of my MAIN goals was to keep the ride ht. as low as possible. That meant an obscure panhard location/ swing but I had no other availabe choices. Those are some quick general tips. Post up any other questions & I'll be happy to opinionate.

Minor updates

I've been slowly progressing along lately. I finished up the front end bodywork, mounted the hood, started routing some wiring, finished adding the flooring to the roof rack (pic later) & have already begun fabbin the sheet metal roof rack "feet". I'll cut center holes in these to slip over the tube bases. Then, I'll weld in a bottom plate so I can Gorilla Glue on some waterproofing membrane for the seal.

i dunno about gorilla glue,,, it dries so hard that it might crack up with vibration, maybe something that will stay soft instead, weatherstrip adhesive?
