G'day all
It has been a slow day, So i set about finding some photos of my previous 'Cruisers...
Here they are - beginning with my very first 60.
It was a 1982 (I think) Fj60 with a 2F (once again - I think). It had 122000k's on it and was a one owner. I made a bull bar for it, and put on 10.5 R15 Desert Duellers on white Desert Rat rims, and a custom suspension system from 'West Coast Suspensions' - I wouldnt have a clue of the components, but the suspension was fantastic! It was a great car with plenty of power, but it liked to drink! I spent a lot on 'Genie' Extractors and a hgh flow exhaust system, and carby re-build, but in the end it just wasnt economical enough for the amount if driving I did... I owned it for a few years and never had a problem with it. I eventually traded it (with cash) on a work colegues 80 series HZJ80. Photos to come...

Okay, so my second cruiser was my love! A 1996 HZJ80 5 speed manual 'stndard' (vinyl and barn doors). This was standard when I bought it, but it did have an ARB Bull Bar. over about 6 years of ownership I put on Diesel Gas injection, a Tracklander roofrack, Lovells springs and Bilstein shocks, dual batteries, rear drawers / storage, and made a dual rear wheel carrier, etc. I loved that car, but I always wanted more power, and thought the 100 series 1HDFTE was the ultimate - so I bought one and had to sell the 80....

The 100 series is a beautiful long distance tourer, with plenty of power, space and comfort. I bought a 2001 1HD-FTE with the 4 speed auto (unfortunately). I never liked the auto.
I had it for a few years, and did the following: ARB colour coded bar, Triple battery system, rear storage, Bilstein shocks with Tough Dog springs and Torsion bars (and diff drop), DP Chip, 3" Beaudesert exhaust, 33" Mickey Tompson STT's, rear bar (made by me), and plenty of 'stuff' in the cab...
The car was a beast - until I broke down in it (not far from home) and it spent a month at Toyota who replaced the injection pump, Torque Converter, and main compter..... I lost all confidence in the car.... While it was getting fixed I bought an 1983 HJ60 for $500 unlisenced to use a a beach hack. I did it up, got it licensed, and enjoyed driving it so much that I decided to sell the 100!!!

The 'Silver Squid'!! So, for $500 I bought the 'Squid... I stripped it, re-painted it in my shed, did the brakes and knuckles, new tyres, roofrack, dual batteries, elec trailer brakes... It had OME springs, and Tough Dog shocks. This was a great car that i loved driving every day! I towed my boat to Exmouth a couple of times (about a 3000km round trip), and it never let me down... I was searching on 'Gumtree' one day for a Mountain Bike, then decided to look at turbo's for it as I was always wanting more power - but found a factory TD (12-ht) HJ61 instead... 2 days later my Dad drove my 600km and I drove it home

My current car (and so far the best by far!). The 1988 HJ61 12ht 5 speed manual.... It has Lovells springs and Koni shocks, ARB bar (swapped off the Silver Squid), light bar and HID's, with high beam converted to HID. Waeco centre console fridge, Toyota Corolla front seats, a dual rear wheel carrier that i made, 190L diesel tank, dual batteries, snorkel, UHF cb radio, Rhino tradesman rack... I also made a 3" ehaust and tweakd the turbo boost. The brakes are now all new with slotted and dimpled rotors in the front.
It has great power, and fantastic fuel economy. Next will be a paint job - maybe...

I almost forgot - we now have 2 Cruisers...
We bought my Father In Laws 2014 200 series VX TTD
But that doesnt count as it will never go off road....

(and I prefer to drive the 60...)

so there we have my previous and current 'Cruisers.....

Oh geez! Just rub it in to us poor US folks!:flipoff2: Awesome list of cruisers! At least you ended up with the best series cruiser. :)

Too bad you have had to suffer through so many DIESEL cruisers.
Very nice collection. Thanks for sharing.

I'm envious:confused:

Wow nice pics. Thanks for sharing.

So u prefer to drive the 60 over the 100 and 200 series?
And which donks the best to sit behind?

You better throw in some tech here before this thread gets moved. So send some pics of that rear bumper on the last one. Besides
I want to know what the hell are you doing towing a boat through the desert??

Have any of the cruisers you've owned had the ambulance doors? Are they that common or not?

@Matty f - yep, I prefer the hj61. I hated the auto behind the 100, although it was great on long distance trips. My sister called it the 'lounge chair'...
The 200 is only new to us, and the power is amazing! I am just too scared to scratch it to be able to enjoy it!!

@cruiserpilot - the track I was towing the boat on heads over some dunes, then into a creek where we launch the boat...
I have a couple of bumper photos in the 'bumper' thread.
The 80 had the ambulance (barn) doors. It is only the lowest spec cruisers that have them in aus...
I figure the thread starts and finishes with 60's.....
