"State Bill 1291 passed in committee today 4-2, "[requiring] the court to forward to the Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) records related to state photo enforcement convictions or judgments and allows MVD to consider the violation when determining whether to suspend or revoke a person’s driver license. "

When the photo radar outfits were first allowed by law, the MVD was explicitly prohibited from having access to any data about any individual's photo radar tickets, whether entered into judgment or not.

The Trucking industry, and another I missed, have been lobbying the State legislature to create this bill negating that exclusion, because they want to have access to that information for the hiring process.

After passing in committee today, the Bill has been submitted to the State Senate for a vote.

So what do you think would or will happen in my situation where I know I have at least 2 speed camera tickets over the last year and havent done a thing about it, just ignored them?

Howdy! I would imagine the insurance industry would love to have the info available so they can raise your rates. Regardless of the debate on whether we should even have the speed cameras or not, I think the economy will force government agencies to become much more active in collecting the revenues available thru these cameras. I know at one time there was a discussion of contracting process servers to deliver the citations in person so they could not be ignored. They were going to get a flat rate for delivery plus a percentage for collections. John

He's good, owns a Lexus:princess: and has fantasies about spooning, so will fit right in!

I just got tagged for 64 in a 55 Construction Zone. I didn't see any workers present. I'm expecting the ticket to equal the cost of my rig... :crybaby:

Yeah right, they wont throw me in the clinker for not getting my mail!! I had no idea I had tickets? Are you sure it was me and my truck?

That's why all of my cars are registered in my wife's name. Ticket comes to her, she sends in a copy of her license and a note that says "That's clearly not me driving, thank you!". In Arizone you are not "legally" obligated to report the offending driver.

i thought they were getting rid of them as soon as the contract is done. saw no photo radar in cal ... besides dont you have the right to face your accuser? what are they gonna do bring in the equipment that took your pic? what about calibration? seems to me this wont last

All those arguments have been thrown out. Best bet, get in front of Judge Kendall (I believe his name is). He has thrown out EVERY photo radar ticket that has come before him. Even the head of the state Republican party who was clocked at 109 in a 65, got it thrown out. Nice.

I know some people have mailing addresses different then their home addresses. Good luck serving those people. ;)

That was because he was cited for Criminal Speeding. Photo radar only can produce civil tickets under AZ law. A peace officer has to issue a criminal ticket.

By the way...not to sound like Jesus. :D Why all the big deal on the photo cams? If you don't speed you have nothing to worry about. Now I don't like the new streaming cams, but what's the beef on this issue any how? Just follow the rules.

OK...I feel hate coming at me as though I said the 100 is the best Cruiser ever. :D (It's not, the 200 is)

Why the big deal on illegal search? If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about.

It's about a little thing known as the United States Constitution. It USED to be an important document.

The cams are legal whether we like it or not. They're there. Deal with it OR spend your time trying to get the laws changed (which I support as that's your right in the USA).

I got one in January coming through Phoenix - I was doing 66 on the 101, and the camera was set to 55 although I don't remember any construction in the area...

Anyway, after I got the ticket I did a lot of reading and was appalled at what I read. First, you still must be served the ticket - mailing doesn't count. However, the serving has already been farmed out from the PD's and the servers are not always very professional. One was caught on camera throwing the notice out of his car window at the accused while calling him and his family "spics".

While the law still requires you to be served, Scottsdale has made a habit of ignoring that law and suspending the licenses of speeders who do not respond to the mailed notices. The Scottsdale courts have been taken to AZ state appeals where the law has been upheld, but the city has continued to ignore it. It costs money and time to take them to court, so most people don't and Scottsdale's policy remains profitable.

As said before, the best way to avoid them is to not speed and register your vehicle in your wife's name and vice versa. And avoid Scottsdale. That city sucks anyway.

Photo Radar on my 60?

BMAN -

if I get a photo radar for exceeding the speed limit in my 60, I'm going to frame the sucker and brag.

Unless the DPS is installing them on the side of cliffs, there ain't no way I'm going to be speeding on any section of the interstate!?

Cheers (a bit tongue in cheek)

Easy (and legal) way out...Start a family trust, register your vehicles to the trust. The same works if you own a business, register the vehicles to the business.

they will add up in fees until renewing time for your registration comes up - don't ask me how I know

been there done that

the accuser is a crisp photo of YOU

the calibration is within less than 3%

and yes, you can waste your time in going to a hearing before a totally unsympathetic judge
