I have ignored two of them recently. Jill's car is in my name. It is obvious by the pic that I am not driving. We have not been served.
There is a drive to outlaw this practice. They are allowing some leeway, hoping to avoid avoid that.
They are making a lot of money on those who just pay. They did it to me a year ago. I won't do it again. My truck is well-known in a small town, but I don't care. I will not pay again. They can take my picture. It's not my problem. I won't pay!
If you want to sign a pettition to outlaw photo-radar, call me. We have the same petition that you all have, but it is more noticeable here. We are sick of it all! This thing is nearly dead. There is a legislative bill out there to kill it. We all need to support that thing.

Support your Local Photo Radar!

I Do, literally. Got flashed on the way back from Sheep's Bridge. Hasn't arrived in the mail yet, but I check everyday like a kid looking for a birthday card. Can't wait to pay.
Police need to be working real crimes. Child molesters, people that swindle old folks, and the scum that brake into our cars and steal our toys! Let photo radar remain us occasionally distracted speeders to slow down, and the speed demons that it is time to grow up. :flipoff2:
I await your hate.

They are. That's why cams are there and not cars.
Howdy! I agree. It is mighty comforting to know that the Traffic Patrol will stop northbound traffic on I-17 for 40 minutes to protect a rooster that got loose somehow. Once it was captured, they gave it a free ride home, back up to Black Canyon City. There are about a b-zillion gag lines posted up on AZCentral.com for this story. I'll bet that New Times has a blast with this one. DPS budget must be in pretty good shape if they can invest several officers and patrol cars to pursue a wild XXXX down the road. I think a few bottle rockets or M-80s would of solved the problem, unless someone was graceful enough to do it with their BFG/Toyo/whatever. John

I drive about 1000 miles per week, and for the last 6-7 months or so, I purposely try and set off the cameras - probably about 5-6 times a week I get flashed. I've never even been mailed a ticket (so that I can then ignore it!), because I do drive through the photo radar areas with my drivers visor down and just sit up straight when I go over the sensors or pass by the SUV's on the side of the road. It must frustrate them seeing my car and license plate on a weekly basis and know that they can't send me a citation because they can't see a face!

Even if after you get a citation, ignore it, and then get served - simply argue that in your opinion you were "maintaining a safe and prudent speed for the conditions". That's the only speed law on the books in AZ. The posted speeds are simply suggested speeds and it is between an officer and you (2 humans) to argue whether you were going a safe and prudent speed for the conditions. Judges love it when you try and get the other side of the story from a camera!

You have read Atlas Shrugged, yes? You do know the fundamental purpose of law?

Read?! Shotts is too busy watching his new monster big screen hyper-plasma 1360i 240 Hz television.

Pictures good. Words bad.

Guys...I have no time to fool with it before Ouray. My like-new 65-inch Mitusbishi TV is for sale for $650. Dealer cost was about $2800 2-yrs ago. It's on my kitchen table and Becky is.....

It has all the bells and whistles you need.

The other problem with this is most likely people like me. Now I slow down for the camera about to the speed limit then as soon as passing the camera accellerate to about 20 to 25 above the speed limit till the next camera to make up lost time. Actually there is alot of people like this and its rediculous to watch traffic. 85 is the cuttoff for criminal speeding so I try to stay below this but it doesn't always happen plus you probably won't get that ticket anyway they will just act tough and try to say they can give you this ticket. Personally I think they should make the far left lane 80 -85mph and the rest can stay at 65 for anyone who wants to drive 65 or less. I just budget for a couple tickets a year but haven't actually gotten any so then its extra cruiser money. Sadly I drive this way only because of my disgust for photo radar nothing else. I mean it really isn't hard to not get one of these tickets if your a speeder, the people they really get are your everday commuter doing there thing when they don't realize there doing 1mph over the cameras limits and flash. Or you go to pass and don't pay attention it doesn't really stop anyone who purposly speeds in my opinion.

Oooo, I'd like to comment but :censor::censor::censor::censor::censor::censor:

I'm just being honest. I've never gotten a photo ticket I mean what a joke they put signs out in front of them. If your speeding intentionally and looking for cops its kinda hard to miss a big yellow sign twice before the camera. To me I see at as just another tax. Thats really all it is, except a large part of the moeny goes to a corporation then back into the clean election fund straight into the politicians pockets, and yes unfourtuntly this is all true. I mean if it does nothing to stop real speeders than what is the point? . I respect a police officer, sometimes there jerks but hey if I had to deal with crackheads all day worrying about being stabbed with an aids needle half the time you arrest someone i'd be pissed off all the time as well. I would much rather have police with reasoning skills than a camera. I respect someone who is willing to put their life on the line to make judgments about what is safe and what isn't whether I agree with them or not. Before photo radar I drove a consistent reasonable speed not worrying about a thing, but everytime I see one it just annoys me now when I think of all the money going back to Australia, corportations, and politicians. Just another sneaky way to slip some taxes in just like beer and ciggerettes. Personally I don't drink alcohol, I don't smoke and dislike carbonation so I don't drink soda nor do I feel these are good for a person but that doesn't give anyone the right to force someone to not smoke or drink thats their own decision. I am very angry everytime I hear they raise the taxes on these items to pay for more useless programs. I helped a friend on their taxes and he ends up paying more taxes on his ciggerettes then he did in income taxes. As a disclaimer this is just my personal opinion and others are entitled to feel however they wan't.

Driving 20-25 MPH above the speed limit is rediciulous and dangerous. What gives you the right to drive at those speeds?
If some person ever hits my family driving like that I'd haunt and press the prosecuting attorney until the creep received the maximum sentance.

80-85 mph on a 14 lane divided freeway rediculous... maybe if you really stretch that out I mean the limit is 75 on a 4 lane going through the mountains and 80 mph in Texas on some 2 lane roads. Personally I have no problem with speed limits, they give a license to anyone pretty much so yea we need some limits but my point is I'm just being honest that sometimes after they placed the cameras up I intentionally speed inbetween just because they annoy me. Do I do 20 over in a 45 no do I speed around a school zone, defiantly not. My only point is camera's are nothing more than a tax. Its a "not paying attention to the big yellow signs tax" that unfortunatly will only get people who aren't paying attention or just don't care. I cannot see how these things make the roads safer in my opinion, and independant studies are starting to confirm this.
