I am doing PM by replacing hoses, belts, plugs, wires, cap, rotor , filters, on a 94 FZJ 80. I replaced the 5/8 and 1/2 heater hose that is on the firewall directly behind the valve cover. Is this the PHH or is there another one down lower that I can't see? I also had oil in two of the spark plug wells, is there a gasket or o-ring at the base of these? Thanks, Marty

PHH - follow the hard metal pipe the goes from that heater valve area down the driver's side of the engine. the PHH connects the hard pipe to the block.

Also replace the bypass hose slightly above & forward of the PHH when looking from the left side wheel well area.

Good luck!

It's down below the intake manifold. It's only visible from the driver front tire well. You are looking for a small 3 inches long hose that coonects between a pipe coming from behind the EGR that routes dow the back of the motor and ends near the block around the 5-6 cylinder area. There is also a formed hose higher up under the intake, bypass hose #1 you will want to tackle also. Do some searches, lots of pictures and advice already written on both.

To answer the other question, yes. Each spark plug tube has a gasket at the top. They press into the valve cover. If your going to have it off anyway, might as well get the valve cover set that includes the spark plug seals. John

Its right here... super easy to replace :flipoff2:

My 97 FZJ80 is 198000 miles and doing some Preventive Maintenance...etc, etc. Since the starter is out, and the PHH is within reach, I thought replacing the hose. But, the question is, whether I should do it since it does look pretty clean to me and no sign of bulging or leak. Also, the crankshaft pully is out and thought of replacing the oilpump seal. I've cleaned the area and there seems to be no leak also...or is just that I have not started the engine after cleaned the oilpump cover area?? should oil seep out of there somehow??

PHH picture attached to see if it is still good for another 50,000 maybe??

Thanks mudders!

If you're in there and have the chance, I'd do both. Better to replace both and know you're good for another 100-150k miles than to wait for a problem.

Just my .02

2x this^. The hose clamp is pretty indicative of this being the original, so it is 15 years old. John

$45 + shipping for PHH Bypass????? F that! I got 4' Gates green stripe from Oreilly and 2 Breeze CTC's from Napa for $20 total.

that's a pretty jerky/snarky thing to say. didn't your mother tell you if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it? there are many people who will pay for the convenience of an all in one kit that josh has. Plus, he is an excellent vendor/mudder.

Honestly that looks pretty good to me. Mine looked much worse, and when I got it off the inside was totally fine and probably could have gone years longer.. Though its one thing that if it goes wrong your SOL & completely stuck, who wants to change it on the side of the road.. let alone on a trail..
Plus I saw it as a sort of 'right of passage' here on mud, imho buy the kit, or source the parts yourself like me and give it a go :smokin:

Josh, along with yourself, Sam, Onur, CDan and a few others are not only valuable resources for us that love Land Cruisers but also great people that are a pleasure to know.

I call it like it is. I'd rather say something so someone doesn't get ripped off than keep my mouth shut in fear of offending someone. An "excellent vendor/mudder" wouldn't have insane prices like that.
