Personally, I did my research here and thus discovered the existence of the gates green stripe and the constant tension clamps. I did some digging on various websites to figure out the part numbers of each item. I'd post them here if I had them in front of me. I found the green stripe at O'Reilleys but initially had the wrong part number as they were telling me I had to order it at a shipping cost of $60. I did a little more digging and found a different part number and they had plenty of it at $3 something per foot. I bought 10 feet of it to have around. I then found the clamps at Napa for $5 each and bought a whole box. I'm at work all night but if needed I'm happy to post the respective part numbers sometime tomorrow afternoon.

I spent several hours replacing 4 of the short little heater hoses around the heater valve as well as the PHH. It was fair amount of work, most of which was spent climbing onto the bumper and into the engine compartment. I hope to get the 3 little heater hoses on the return side in the next few weeks. In the meantime I have a couple worn out universal joints to deal with.

Finally, tackled the "Puto" Heater Hose...From the picture I posted on 80's PHH, it looked nice and shiny on the outside; but once I sliced the hose open, it already had the corrosion from the aluminum tube eating the rubber from the inside. It was just a matter of miles before the hose would have failed down a trail somewhere. The aluminum tube also had been eaten up where the hose is attached, from what I suspect is due to"electrolysis"...from research, electrolysis may be causing this and also corroding the head gasket. But I may be way off on this. I am just a NOOB! BTW, the PHH was original and have never been serviced before...

While on this task, I also went and replaced the aluminum radiator with a copper core from older year FJ80s...that was the common assumption that the copper core were better. The fan clutch was also serviced and I replaced the silicone oil with a 20,000 cst!!! This I decided since I live in an area where temp cam climp to 120 degrees...Bakersfield, CA- Central "heated" Valley. I got is running last night, with the ambient temp being 56, my Engine Coolant temp did not got up past 187 degrees and maintained at 185... Can someone say if this is becoming an issue since I only had distilled water in the coolant for a flush of the system.

Beyond that, I also serviced my starter with new contacts, the alternator with new brush, the distributor O' ring, as well as the Oil pump cover O' ring...no leaks so far...also the Main front seal was replaced. Estimate from toyota was at $3500 for all...I did it for close to $500 in parts.

I thank the mudder who gave me a snooty remark about having a peace of mind regarding my PHH.... it was a bi#$H, but worth all the bruises I had. Also, I did not replace the bottom bolt for the aluminum heater tube since it was really becoming a pain in the arse!
